Jumped in the car (2.2 cdti tourer) for first time since Santa's been, I thought Happy Christmas! the screen won't work.
It gets as far as the disclaimer warning screen, waiting for OK to be pressed. Neither the screen button or the joystick button (as referred to within Manual) will continue past this screen.
The common error message 'DVD Disc Is Reading An Error' does not come up, so I don't believe this is related to the disc. Unfortunately I can't get into the other screens (a/c, audio, etc).
I believe the joystick button is functioning as I can view the disclaimer screen from blank screen (energy saving) using this button.
I have accessed Diagnosis Menu (2- button) but can't navigate further than the first system OK screen.
Would a pulled fuse/battery disconnect reset this? Must be a software issue.
Will try tomorrow.
Anybody experienced this?

Just to update, had the DVD drive out to clean lenses with IPA.
Noticed 3 loose connectors & inline fuse (2A) -could one of these be influencing the touchscreen function? Has anyone seen these whilst taking their drive out? Is there a schematic available for this system?
Next -going to attempt to remove the screen...

Stripped down the unit to sub-components, couldn't find anything obvious.
Would the System Links screen show a red indicator under 'Disp' if there was a hardware issue?

Btw -which fuse will isolate the Nav system?

I suspect the infrared diodes are not on, so probably due to a fault on one of the boards posted below.
Anyhow, I intend to get a 2nd hand head unit, but have concerns over compatibility.
I'm sure I've read somewhere that the later 7th gen's replaced the infrared system with an actual touch screen. Could someone confirm this for me?
Mine is a 2004 but I'm looking at a later one & wondering if it will be compatible i.e. fully functional with my original DVD drive/disc?

For some reason I can now post pictures directly into thread, so here are the previous "linked" photos (I can't edit them):-

...pulling the fuse (No.7, 10A) had no affect.

Looking at all possible Nav options via ebay, can anyone confirm if the various letter/number combinations eg SEA, SEF, E450, E830, etc. are interchangeable with my existing DVD player & disk for a '54 tourer?
There are various combos available but would they all function? I can't find info on this anywhere.
Has anyone swapped one out before?

2nd hand unit turned up, claimed to be a fully working head, but the 6 CD drive would not work.
To save the hassle of sending it back & sourcing an alternative, I just fitted the pictured PCB into my original unit -everything is now working great. No codes required. Job done.
...now, what to do with the other head, complete with (known) damaged CD drive & PCB. Everything else has been proven to function OK via various combinations.
