Hi all,

I am looking to change the Aux Belt on my 2009 2.2 Diesel 8th Gen Accord. I have looked round online but can't find much info on the 8th gen. Theres lots of info on the 7th gen, is that similar?

Thanks

Sam

Thanks for that, sounds simple enough, although I think the video is of a different accord as it shows 3.0 V6?
I am going down the local car parts shop later to see if I can get a replacement if not I’ll go to Honda and try and get one from them.
Thanks
Sam

If it is the same as my 2.4 it’s a 10 min job very easy.
I used a long open ended spanner no problem.

Hi All, I have been and got a belt from the local parts place (its a DAYCO branded belt, anyone know if there any good?), I am going to try fitting it this week end.
Thanks
Sam

Just Replaced the Belt!!! Not too difficult just a bit fiddly, I used a long 14mm ring spanner on the tensioner to release pressure on the belt and I took a panel out the wheel arch to get to the bottom pulleys. I would upload some pictures but not sure how now that photobucket has stopped working.

Good stuff Sam.
My petrol has a lot more room under the bonnet that a diesel so I didn’t need to remove the wheel arch cover on mine.
As for photos I’m sure Firefox and chrome had add ons now to show your photos.

Thanks Brett
So Heres the old belt:

First I took off the drivers side wheel and found this little panel:

Its comes off with a couple of clips giving access to the bottom two pulleys:

Then I used an extra-long 14mm Ring spanner on the tensioner to release pressure by pulling it towards the front of the car:

The belt can then be fead down past the pullys (its a tight fit):

Then it’s just a case of feeding in the new one and putting it on, it helps to have a second person holding the tensioner back whilst the other feeds it over the pulleys

And thats it.

Hi All,
just replaced the aux. drive belt with the help of Sam's photos above.

A couple of things other people thinking of doing this job may like to know:-

1. The belt required for the iDTEC is a 7PK1633 (I also used a DAYCO brand)

2. A suitable 14mm ring spanner can be found on Ebay under the brand name "Defender by Toolshop" it comes with 4 other spanners in a red fabric tool roll. It is 330mm long and requires a metal tube extention for extra force.

Cheers, Pete.

Hi,
just to clear up any confusion in the above post, the name I posted for the set of spanners is the name that came on the box. This name does not appear in the Ebay adds.

However when I looded back at my Ebay order it was for a "Neilsen" set of spanners. I can only think that these tools are sold under different names.

Cheers, Pete.

Yes, you need to take out 2 plastic clips and fold the plastic liner out of the way, so that you can get the belt onto the 2 lower pulleys.

See the 3rd picture in "Syncmaster710n" post.

Pete.

Glad to see the pictures came in handy.

The Spanner I used was a Hallmark RRXL14, from the local car parts shop for about £20, there are probably cheaper options out there, but I wanted one the same day as the weather was good that day, (problem with working on the driveway).

Regards

Sam
