Hi all,

I’ve been reading the forum for over two years now. Never actually got to the point of starting a topic. Probably because it was needless, I’ve always found solutions for my issues already on here. However this time I didn’t find anything accurate. I’ve had my accord for a year and a half. Not many problems with it, apart from injector seals. 3 out of 4 was changed over this amount of time. I was going to get the 4th one replace but my mechanic couldn’t get the injector out. He put the clamp and bolt back in how it should be. Not even a week later I had my injector popping out. It ripped the thread out from the cylinder head and the bolt is snapped too... :( I’ve had the thread ripped out before with another injector, that’s been sorted by a specialist (they put an insert in) and still works fine. Question is what is the best to do in this case? Forgot to say the engine is young 126k on clock unless it’s been rewinded (not sure if it’s possible). I don’t know if the car’s been remaped. Anyway these things shouldn’t happen either way. Thank you for all the help in advance. :)

So you can't have it threaded because it's already been done? Will an oversized bolt work?

If not.. then really it needs a head swap I'm afraid.

Well that was injector number 2 this one is number 4 now. It would be doable I think it’s all just the case of how long would it last. I’ve changed me job recently and it involves a lot of travelling. I broke down on the way to work on my 2nd day. Wouldn’t want to break down again. So I’d need the most reliable solution. Any ideas?

I did take injector 4 out of the head a few months ago to replace the copper seal.

When checking the bolts it was apparent this had been done before (probably recently) by the previous owner. There was a lot of debris in the bolt hole and the 'different' bolt itself was somewhat different to those on the other three, shorter by at least two threads as well.

In getting a seized one out, it is suggested - not incorrectly - to loosen the bolt, or add descaler/coca cola in the vicinity to persuade the injector whilst turning the engine over(or driving around). This may have stripped the bolt hole down to a certain depth when the injector finally breaks loose of the crud, but possibly not to the end of the hole cast/drilled by Honda staff.

It might be worth seeing if the blind hole can be cleaned and re tapped to the full thread depth and use a slightly longer bolt than that officially recommended, or possibly drilling down a few more mm and tap the new metal to get some additional grip with a longer bolt.

Neither provide a fool proof solution, but are considerably cheaper than going down the replacement head route.

Hi guys, Need r advise too
I've just have had same problem happened on my lovely 2008 Accord (185k)

Do u think my current solution should do the job please??

1. For damaged clamp bolt thread repairs - to use M8 x1.25 x D3 helicoil inserts (not sure if 1 lenght will be enough?)
2. As the Cryptonite clamp hole is for M6 and not a simple DIY project to get it drilled out to M8
i'm thinking to use M8 to M6 double end threaded step stud to fit instead of original clamping bolts.
