Honda accord 2.2
Hi Guys,
Could you give a suggestion please, I am completely puzzled.
Having an accord 2.2 cdti
Started gradually start up harder and harder my car. The generator works fine, glow plugs has no fault. When the engine very cold especially now it doesn't turn on, when is hot doesn't turn on. When it does it behave steady, drives smooth no problem.
Could you give me an idea what can cause this? Thanks very much

The first thing to check is the battery.
Usually when cold the battery shows the signs of usage.

Hi Jan, my battery is good, about half year old. The ignition part is looks OK the generator turns and string enough, it's something with the engine part I suspect but couldn't get any further. It was checked with computer shows nothing, still the engine takes a lot or not even want to turn on. Thanks for the reply

The next thing to check is the starter.
The power can drop over the years and many times is enough to take it appart and give a good clean up.
Check also the wires, especially the ground ones.
You can also run a new ground cable directly from the negative pole of the battery to one bolt of the starter motor to see if it makes any difference

I think what you're saying is that it turns over fine but doesn't actually fire up?

Have an injector leak back test carried out, you've probably got a failing injector.

Thanks will check that then. Much appreciated the advices. The computer connected last week, showed no fault

If you have capable diagnostic equipment, check fuel rail pressure during cranking, should be 300bar or equivalent scale, also as mentioned do an injector leak back test , you don’t even need the test kit if you know what to look for good luck

Mine accord, when bought, have had aftermarket positive battery terminal. So i ***ume, that overtime factory positive terminal just corroded away.
But anyway aftermarket battery terminal also does not work, so i have to bought from salvaged car original part replaced.

Aftermarket terminal does not work, because it does not have very good contact between terminal metal and cable itself. Through 4 years of Lithuanian weather, aftermarked also corroded badly, as you can see in pictures.
Our car has two positive cables, one goes to starter and generator, other goes to fuse box and ecu, and from that all other car electronics.

my suggestion is to measure voltage drop between battery terminals and positive terminals, also voltage drop between battery and engine, measure resistance between positive battery and positive starter terminals etc. to make sure that there is no problem with the cables.

also during cranking your battery voltage should not drop below 9Volts, by manual. if it does - your battery should be replaced.
