Hello.

As the ***le suggests, i'm getting a strange noise from my car. I'll try to provide some background info and maybe some suggestions can be thrown my way.

So the car starts and idles totally fine, no unusual noises. You can rev the engine while in neutral and there are no strange noises, however when driving the car i'm getting a loud chattering noise from what sounds like the the drivers side of the engine. It only happens when you are accelerating and is very noticable. If the car is just tootling along on the motor way then the noise is minimal and if you bring the turbo in, you can hear the turbo sucking in air and the rattling noise stops, Otherwise it just keeps chattering away when accelerating.

This noise was not present when I test drove the car to the best of my knowledge and I have read that these cars need the maximum amount of oil to function correctly. The garage did an oil change before they delivered the car and i'm wondering if they've not filled it up properly or maybe just used rubbish oil. I've spoke to my mechanic and he said the car has no faults and the computer isn't giving any errors on timing or anything like that. He also said the fluid levels are all ok but since he's not really a Honda guy, maybe its sat between min and max and that's usually ok for most other cars in his eyes.

He suggested that it wasn't the timing chain as other people have had theirs changed and apparently it still makes the same noise. I will maybe try and upload a video at some point.

Thanks for any help, it's appreciated as the noise is driving me nuts and i'm worried that something is going to go bang!

Sounds like injector chatter, possibly a slight leak. Whip off the engine cover and check for any damp residue around the injectors. Could also be chatter from a leaking exhaust manifold. Can you smell fumes in the engine bay towards the bulkhead or in the cabin?

Ok so there is no dampness around the injectors. Also I can't smell anything inside the car even with the windows closed. I'm thinking maybe I should take it back to the dealers that I bought it from. I've not had it long and already i've had to pay for new calipers and break pads, also the radiator hose is bust and someone has tried to fix it with some kind of putty, so that's leaking, there's this rattle also.
Surely I have some kind of buyers protection against this sort of rubbish. The guy literally told me that they would give it an inspection before I paid for it. After said inspection he told me everything was fine with the car.

I've had it to three different garages now. My mechanic that I usually use, the honda garage down the road and I took it up to sure start. Each one of them had literally no idea what the rattling noise could be and told me to take it back to dealers. They seem to think i'm within my rights to do this?

I'll be honest, i've not had these problems before so i'm not sure.

If it doesn't sound right then take it back yes.

Well, i've dropped it back off at the dealers in Halifax today where I got it from. Told them about the loud noise from the engine and also that the radiator was leaking coolant and had just been patched up with some putty. So they said they will fix it. They said they will call me tomorrow and let me know what's happening.

To be honest, If it's going to be something mega expensive for them to fix then they might aswell save them and me the headache and give me my money back. They ***ured me when I bought the car that it had been checked over and was all good to go but obviously not.
