Hi guys,

Just wondering if anyone else can help identify if this is a possible problem. Had an auto electrician come out as I was having problems but whilst sorting them he mentioned that this was worrying him. Said the sound is like a bearing is on the way out and said his guess was the aux Belt tensioner, but said it would be taken apart to be sure. Tried to upload a video of where he pointed it out, but said there's quite a few things there it could be.

Any ideas?

Cheers!

Common issue on the ictdi Accords.

As mentioned, remove the idler pulley and go for the shorter belt.

The longer belt and the idler pulley causes excess stress on the bearings inside the alternator.
How many miles has your Accord done? Its done well to last this long.

You will also have to replace the alternator unless you can replace the bearings in your existing one. Will be easier to buy a new/refurb one.
Lots of info on the forum about it.
DIY is here but pics are missing due to photobucket 3rd part hosting

Sorry I'm complete novice to this. Thanks for the advice. How would I determine what it is? Essentially I bought it few weeks ago abd it's started making this noise. Might have to take it to the garage then as I don't have a clue with all of it. But if there is a problem I'd need to determine if the trader would sort it. Can't imagine they'd do much for a noisy belt and I'd have to drive from Leeds to Sheffield to get it sorted.
