Had the glow plug light flashing and limp mode occur recently and it caused me a little headache.

Thought I'd share here as the problem I had required a different solution to seemingly everyone else who has seen this error code (that I can find on the internet)

Standard remedies are;

1) New fuel filter
2) New fuel rail pressure control Valve (on left end as you look under the bonnet)

Fortunately I had a whole injection system amongst my spares and could swap things out in order of expected probability of causing the problem.

So I swapped out;

A) Genuine Honda fuel filter
B ) Common rail with valve and pressure switch. (So as to not disturb them)
C)cleaned the pickup filter in the tank
D) Diesel pump (which does both lift and pressure)

This then lead to one of two conclusions;
1)it's a wiring issue (as the car still runs perfectly till it goes into limp mode)
2)an injector is leaking off too much fuel causing a marginal pressure drop at the rail.

3) So i rigged up my homebrewed leak-off tester

And got a marginally greater volume from No. 1

I pulled a spare injector from stock, annealed the copper washer from under the old injector, and fitted it all.

A resound thrashing off the car gave no EML or fault code.

It may be that regarding the rail pressure, my car may fly a little closer to the wind with its stage 2 map, but wither way, hopefully this information will give other people something to go on in future.
