Just to see if this is isolated to my car, heres what to do
1 put key in ignition and turn to the main position and while doing this look at your binacle
2 after taking note of what happened (proberbly nothing) turn off and remove the key
3 put the column stick on the left side to the high beam setting
4 repeat step 1
What you are looking for is the speedo light will come on dim as you go to the main position then come bright, it only does this with the headlights set on main beam, i couldnt figure it out at first as it only started after i had been cleaning the inside of the car i must have knocked it into the main beam position.

There is a illumination knob adjustment which turns up and down the clocks lights. That has a setting to dim down when you turn lights on. When you turn it you can feel it lock a little
