Currently stood at the side of a dual carriageway with a broken car!!

Heard a noise and suddenly lost oil pressure. Not dropped any oil so pretty confident the oil pump drive chain has snapped!!

Only had it replaced 18 months ago! :-(

Any recommendations for somewhere in the East Midlands who may be able to replace it?

Just hope the 20 secs with no pressure hasn’t done too much damage!!

Oh no!! Sorry to hear this. Fingers crossed it's not caused any longer term damage

****e, bad luck dude!! It will need to be checked before just going for a straight replacement. As Fahad says, hope nothing else was damaged in the process!!

Garage has finally got the car back together and started it but says when it comes on boost then there is a horrible noise from the turbo. Taken inlet pipe off and said can feel excessive play in the shaft which is a possible outcome of the sudden lack of oil pressure.

He’s going to look into a refurb or replacement unit for it! :-(

Oh no sorry to hear that.. sounds like oil starvation of the turbo when the pump chain failed

Yeah my thoughts. Engine was around 3,000 rpm and on boost when the chain failed and so a fair run down for the turbo with no oil!

Should maybe have thought of this first and checked it prior to committing to the cost but you you know what hindsight is......

Yep just look ahead now mate. Besides a new turbo means peace of mind for the future.

Had a quote for £350 + vat worst case to recon the turbo. Anybody know of anything cheaper?

Don’t really want to go down the used route having spent so much on the rest of the car!

Got it back !!!! :D

New chains, guides, sprockets etc including new oil pump sprocket which was not in the kit!

Re-furbished turbo with new shaft and compressor wheel.

Cost me a large sum of cash but fingers crossed this will now be good for the next few years !!!

Best of luck mate. Hopefully they’ve put your injectors back into the same cylinders, or they’ve at least checked the injector coding.

Glad you have the result you wanted, should serve you well for a good time now.
Best of luck with it.

I'd taken them out before they got the car and had them cleaned and ensured they were etched clearly !! :p
