Left the Accord in a large hotel car park at Heathrow for a few days when I went on holiday. Got back to find it making throaty noises like a boy racer when revved.

Took it to the garage today, and they showed me under the car, roughly under the front passenger seats, where the exhaust had been cut quite cleanly.

I did notice when I got back to the car that one of my mirrors had been folded in and scratched, but thought nothing of it.

Garage said this isn't unheard of. Someone can get £150 or so for these

Next steps will of course be to get hotel CCTV.... but has this happened to anyone else?

Have heard of it before alright, a lot of scum out there, I think it was exec on here that had it happen to him.

So they've stolen your cat? Vile little rats, I hope the fuzz catch up with them.

Yeah exactly, took the catalytic converter. Not going to drive it till its fixed... exhaust fumes are coming into the car, much worse than it was when I had the leaking manifold

Been quoted £594 inc VAT to get it fixed

I parked next to a bloody S500 Mercedes as well... his cat would have been worth much more!

Don't bet on it, cats in older cars tend to have more precious metals believe it or not. And they're probably easier to steal!

Don't buy a new one, I'm sure there are plenty available in the breakers.

You think I should buy one from a scrapyard off the same model?

Surely if the cat is that valuable, then the scrapyard would have sold them already?

Well you won't know until you call around. Or check eBay for someone breaking one,

Hi. Maybe have a look here: http://www.cats2u.co.uk/Catalytic-Converters/HONDA+ACCORD+2.0+Petrol just select what you need car details wise.
Wow nice find at £139 for the cat

No luck on the CCTV front :( I park away from the main building to reduce the chance of door dents, but get the cat stolen for my troubles

I've booked it in for a free exhaust check at my local national tyres & autocare on Monday. If all it needs is a new cat (and a bit of metal piping) then I'll buy the cat online and take it to my indy to fit

I suspect you may need to have other parts of the exhaust relaxed as it won’t be just a bolt back in job. If they have cut it off then there will be no flanges for the car to bolt back to.
However an exhaust specialist can advise and maybe even get round this

Try breakerslink.co.uk for secondhand spares may find good deal

Yep I had mine stolen, few months before my dad had his cat stolen. Both were/are 6th gens though, this is the first time I have come across the 7th gen being targeted. The 6th gen are hot target because its so easy to get at and cut the cat off which has lots of precious metals inside.

I would strongly recommend not to buy ans fit an original Cat, as the likelihood of it being stolen again is very very high and you will be out of pocket again. Just buy a cheap aftermarket cat.

I had to change my mid pipe and flex pipe as they were cut off to take the cat off.

Thanks chaps. Yes the man said it needed a new flange, but I didn't really follow what that is

Taking it to the man tomorrow. £540 inc VAT. Could be worse... They said the parts were £300, they want £150 labor and then £90 VAT

Not sure if they are getting me an original cat or a cheap one at that price

But I don't think the chance of theft is high... It has happened once in 5 years. This forum isn't exactly full of stolen cats either

Maybe I will lower the Accord :D
