Hi,
I’ve a engine warning light come on my 2006 Civic 2.2 icdti, about ten seconds after starting engine, comes on after turning ignition on and not starting engine, got the RAC out, plugged his laptop in which showed a P2004 fault, so he cleared it and others which were left in the memory, seemed sorted, but came back after driving about, looking it up it seems it’s a common fault, rectified by a improved part, the imrc frquency solenoid valve, has anyone had the same on a 06 Civic 2.2 icdti ? If so do you have a part number for Honda please ?

Your intake manifold is likely badly coked up due to egr soot build up and the manifold flap is sticking. It's very common.

Do you ever notice a hesitation around 2k RPM?

I would recommend removing your intake, cleaning out throughly and then blanking the egr and remap.

Changing the imrc valve is just treating the symptom but not addressing the underlying cause.

Drop me a line if you want pricing for the egr blanking and remap.

Thanks Guys, warning light has now gone off and stayed off, IMRC butterfly valve is free, I've tried it, got a OBD2 scanner on order to be able to reset it, car has only done 80K, so would this have generated enough soot to cause problems ?

It's normally the lower mileage cars that have the issue. Still worth cleaning out the intake, all it will cost is time and effort but the car feel a lot nicer.

Cleaning the inlet manifold is definitely something that will help - there is a guide on here somewhere.
Its quiet involved though.

I am on 185k miles and have always wanted to clean the inlet but its something that I dont think I can do.

I have cleaned the EGR valve every two years though including the swirl flap ***embly. Both are quite easily to remove.
Clean the MAP and MAF sensors and give the car a good service , new oil, air filter and oil filter and the car will run great.

Makes a massive difference and amaze by the build up of sot and carbon around the EGR inlet to the manifold.
I clean this regularly and have not had any issues from the ownership of the car.

See the build up of from around 50k miles.

It make help, try whizzing in some egr cleaner.
How do you do that ? Take out the air filter and spray it down the tube with the engine running ? Is it effective?

That looks a lot of soot for only 50k ?
