This forum used to be constantly full of new owners and their cars but is now very quiet. I know I'm in the minority by having owned my car for 12 years but how many active members are there still here?

There are still a few regulars, but there's no taking away from the fact the forum is still a large resource of info. With their age, there will be less Accords on the road, and those looking to fix will probably be able to find the info they want without having to create new posts.

Also, we disabled new member sign ups last week as we were getting smashed with spam accounts and couldn't keep it under control easily. There's a large forum update being worked on which will better safeguard us from spam and generally improve the user experience. New member sign ups will also be reinstated with the update.

That is a good idea. I have no idea what those spam accounts hope to achieve on an actively administered site. They seem to get paid for each successful post and then number of views. They seem to be posted by people rather than bots, which makes it doubly insidious.

Personally speaking I don't come on much as before as life is busy these days, rarely have time for forums etc.

Forums in general have died down somewhat with the popularity of social media platforms like Facebook, which is a massive shame as forums are far better 'communities'.

Forums like this are great source of information and resources and will always be useful, hope we never lose it.

Social media are for relationship maintenance rather than knowledge preservation. Finding your answer in a ten year old post just doesn't happen on Facebook (unless someone points you to the forum post).

If there is one online tool that has made an exponential difference to my capabilities it's online forums. A wiki would probably be better for pure knowledge management, but wikis strip the social validation aspect from information and are not a reflection of the cooperative process that forms the core of of human progress.

I've not been active lately owing to a change of work schedule (meaning very little use of the car).

The forum has been an immense help when I required knowledge on repairs, which I feel should be reciprocated by providing feedback or alternative fixes if found. Sadly others might not feel the same, and the fact the majority of threads can be read without registering ***ists in a one way direction of information.

Conversely one forum I registered with to enable forum viewing is so convoluted in the process I find it hard to justify logging on and reading, let alone posting, so there is a fine line to forum numbers and churn when the upgrade is released.

Draughting a polite letter to Mr Honda could result in a new Accord model in the showrooms, fixing the predicament of course.

I'm not on here as much as I used to be, largely because internet connection at work is non-existant (I used to be on all the time at my lunch break). I've been a member since 2010 and have found the knowledge on here to be invaluable. So much so that I now own 2 Accords!

I often come here and check new treads but rarely post.
