Sadly, it looking like I will have to break my old girl.

A noise that started after a 600 mile roundtrip, continues to elude diagnosis and I've reached the point where I can't justify throwing any more money at a car with 173k on the clock that's worth at best... £1000. Especially when it threw up an airbag warning light as well this week.

I'll run it around for a while longer because it's still got a full tank of fuel in it, but I'm not willing to throw more money at it. It's a shame because MoT runs out July 2019... and everything else works, and she still got me 54mpg on that trip.

If I tried to sell it as is... it'd probably be as spares or repair.. and I wouldn't get much... if I break it.. I'll get enough out of it to cover some jobs that I want to do on it's replacement.

I'll be putting stuff up on ebay next month... and will be driving it for at least the rest of this month unless it breaks down... I'll throw some links up on here too if anyone is interested.

I'm actually partially disabled myself these days.. so I can't crawl over and under cars like I used too... So some items will be remove yourself only I'm afraid... But that means I'll let them go for a little less too. Not looking to ask silly money like some ebay chancers do... Sensible prices for all members., and ebay prices below average.

Airbag warning light could be seat belt sensor or the cable clock spring sub ***embly behind the steering wheel, IF it is that it's not a difficult or expensive fix. I'd run it till it dies and then sell it mate, it'll probably reach it's next MOT as long the noise doesn't get progressively worse.

Edit: Reading around this a bit is there a seat belt lifetime warranty?

I'll get around to checking for codes this week, I've got an OBDII reader.

I've got a replacement already, currently doing some work to it before putting it on the road... When exactly, I'm not sure exactly.. I may save up a little extra money first. I've got some paintowrk to sort, a spoiler to fit, servicing and so forth... Already fixed a few minor things... like the flickering LCD... which I swapped over from the other one. :)

The tourer may go on for ages yet... and the longer I wait, the more money I can save and the less I 'need' to get out of it. At the very least I'll sell wheels, leather satnav, lights, and a few other bits.

No codes reported regarding the airbag light.

I have however resolved the engine noise... and it's not the engine.

Turns out it's the AC compressor, and once you disengage it... the noise stops. So I just need to disconnect the compressor entirely as anytime you use the auto side of the heating cooling, it engages the clutch and the noise starts again. I imagine it should just be a case of pulling a fuse or relay somewhere.
