Hi guys
Had the front ball joint fail on me causing the car to collapse onto the front wheel. (luckily I was hardly moving).
Driveshaft was ripper out but only as far as the inner CV was separated (leaving the 'cup' in the gearbox) which has obv ripped the CV boot apart.

Does anyone have any experience with changing the inner CV joint or just the boot ?
Is it possible to do (rather than changing the whole CV joint or the shaft.) ?

How did you do the boot? e.g using a cone or another method.

Any recommendations welcome.

Thanks in advance

Inner tripod joint is usually easy enough.to remove from the inside and fit a new boot after cleaning.
I'd fit a genuine boot depending on price as some of the spurious ones are very weak and give up easily.

As long as you still have all 3 revolving bearings you can just replace the boot. Remove inner tripod, put boot on, put everything back. If you do it yourself you'll need lock ring pliers to remove the ring keeping the tripod on, boot clamp pliers - there are different ones for different clamps, and a large rubber hammer/mallet to get the tripod off.

There are videos of it on YouTube.

Thanks guys.

And does anyone have any opinions on makes of ball joint to fit? Any recommendations of brand to go for and ones to avoid ?

Thanks

I bought a TRW one last year, my car was written off before I could fit it.
They look good enough quality. Honda ones are very expensive.
