Need to replace a front ABS sensor and the prices are crazy. I can get one for anything from £8 to £88 which is ridiculous.

I am sure they vary in quality but I can go through 10 cheap ones for an expensive one!

Anybody have experience of the cheaper versions and are they acceptable?

I had to replace both my rear ones in the past.
(not really the sensor fault, more so debris in the hub when i dismantled everything and the other side, something nicked the sensor wire and damaged it.)

I had to drill them out as they were seized in.
Once drilled out they are very easy to replace as it is only a 10mm bolt.
Just grease the new ones around the upper section and you will never have issues taking them out again.

Both occasions I have used after market ones from SJRautoparts on ebay. £14.99 each.
I was tempted to get genuine, but thought once they are out - if the after market ones failed it is an easy wheel off and replace job.
So I glad i didn't go genuine - saved an absolute fortune.
I replaced them 3 years ago and all still working fine.

The copies are pretty good now, and are pretty much great quality where ever you buy them.

I didn't spend much on two known faulty sensors when I acquired the tourer, choosing to burn the nearside front original out as drilling could have knackered the pulse ring inside the wheel housing (then it gets expensive).

No trouble since with ABS/VRS lights since, after I replaced the octopus of course.

Exactly my thought. As long as I fit it with some anti seize compound then it will be easy to replace again if required.

Replaced one at the weekend after it was siezed in, an after market from Rydex from these guys but it actually came from Germany so it took a few days. Seemed reasonable quality but can't ***ess longevity obviously. The bracketry looked identical to what I removed and looks a bit different from the sensor in the link above...
