Hi all,

Has anyone converted their bootlid to use gas springs? I have an issue with one of the torsion spring mounts and was thinking about replacing them for gas springs. I heard a bang the other day and thought one of the springs had given up, however on closer inspection the metal has sheared on the bracket.

Ive done the gas damper boot conversion on my 7th gen accord. They are quite similar.

Check my youtube video. I wrote a DIY for it aswell, link is in the comments section

Hope it gives you an idea.

Thanks for that.  The DIY is really useful.  I have managed to take one side panel off and had a look.  I'm going to try to move the strut mounting point lower down the hinge to see if it will open the boot automatically without the need for the extra spring.
