Hi All i have just had recently installed a Parrot MKi 9200 hands free car kit in to my 2005 ctdi tourer. I have to say it is the doggys danglies and highly recomend it but will advise that you get a professional to install as i did if your not to handy with tearing your dashboard apart :) . I used A1 Performance Audio in Slough trading estate. It was their first install in an Accord with the Sat Nav head unit and from seeing the installer scratching his head lots its a propper nightmare install. Aparently you need a few different harness adaptors and an audio mute box to tie it into the head unit and amplifier. Found out who A1 use as suppliers as well its justcarkits.co.uk (every harness ever needed aparently for loads of models).

Works really well and controls the iphone/ipod music easily by cable or bluetooth. Also has USB, SD card and AUX in.

Hope this helps

Ginger

Funnily enough I'm planning on installing the mki9000. Isn't the harness cable the SOT-047 mentioned here?

That what i originally thought but my installer had to use about 3 separate harnesses. it might be different if you have just the standard stereo. speak to justcarkits they helped the installer out as im pretty sure its not too straightforward.

Drat. Ok, I'll speak with them, I have the premium sound system, but that doesn't have the sat-nav like yours does.

Just called dynamic sounds who said that I'd just need the SOT-047 cable. Justcarkits said I'd need the cable, plus an ISO Level Attenuator.

Anyone have experience of this, with the premium sound system?

Done a bit of digging around, called Parrot UK, who referred me to another company for cables.

Apparently, for the premium sound system I'd need cable MMP-019.

Could someone please tell me if this is the same at the SOT-047 cable?

Called around a few other places - called up autoleads in the end who make the SOT-047. Guy in Technical said that SOT-047 is all that I need....will see how I get on. Apologies if I ended up hijacking this thread! lol.

Someone else might find this linkuseful (contains a pdf description of what the cable can be used for)

No Probs mate hope you have an easy install.

im having the same problems with my parrot mki9200 .. its fitted with the sot-047 lead but dosent mute all the speakers ?? could this be the solution ..that i need an ISO Level Attenuator. ??

I cant be too much help here but i know when chatting to the installer when he was having his head scratching moment and my dashboard was in pieces with wires everywhere, he said he had to fit an audio mute harness (a harness and box of tricks that mutes the standard satnav headunit when using the parrot) this is because there is aparently no mute from the headunit. Sorry i dont have any pictures as it was done at an installers workshop.

He lost me when he started mentioning attenuators....

If I was you Nigel I'd give justcarkits a call and speak with them. The attenuator was only like £16 or something - they should be able to advise on what cable(s) you need...

...if you don't have any luck, I can tell you how I get on with my install in a few days time...

Bear in mind I don't ever touch cars, let alone their electronics. However, I thought I'd give it a go today.

In summary nigel, I'm having the same problem that you are having. I did a bit of trial and error, and took out the audio mute wire from the back of the stereo, and it still sounded the same. So basically, as it stands, if I play the radio and stream music, the streamed music sounds louder, but can hear the radio in the background. So it appears that the mute lead isn't working.

Another member mentioned pushing the mute spade connection as far back into the connector block as possible. I tried that, but it didn't work. My spade connection is now broken (not inside the block thankfully) and I successfully managed to blow a fuse during my installation (had a heart attack cos I thought I might have popped the speakers :( )

My next point of call is to try and get another spade connection from maplins tomorrow, and give it another go - maybe if I put a new spade connection it will connect better?

Failing that, I'll be calling around to see what else could be the problem. I might try a different type of wiring loom too.

Guys, please be careful to disconnect the battery safely before doing any electrical work.

So one bit of good news might be that your wiring isn't as messed up as you think Nigel :)

glad to hear someone is in the same boat as me ... my auto - elecy is thinking that the mute cable is jus not good enough to switch over and mute the system ?? he says its not switching the relay over or somthing ... summat to do with the parrot kit giving out a negative mute signal to a relay that switches it to a posotive signal to the stereo ?? and its not doing what it should ... anyway hes gona have another play with it soon so will see what happens

let me know if you get anyware pal

Thats the exact problem my installer had. He said had to use 3x harnesses. One for the amp. One for the head unit and an audio mute box because the parrot couldnt mute the headunit on its own. Sorry cant tell u the harness models but they got them from justcarkits.

UPDATE: It's working!

My Parot mki9000 is working on my premium sound system, with SOT-047.

I think I had a mixture of bad luck and not pushing the mute pin in enough with my first cable. Autoleads sent me a replacment mute pin as mine had broken, and I'd actually got the unit working with the loom. However, the mute would sometimes work and not work. If i wiggled the wires a bit it would work again - so I think that harness was faulty.

I ordered another SOT-047 loom and that's worked first time. I've connected it all up and the mute is working fine - if you are streaming via bluetooth, or if you get a call, the standard radio/cd goes on mute.

Thanks everyone who helped me with my install. Nigel, hopefully this helps you out in some way - at least we know now the loom works with the Parrot kit and that the mute wire needs to be pushed all the way in to the connector block.

Happy days.

Sorry to hear that buddy. Like I say, I had some trouble with my first loom, so you could try it with another one. Other than that I don't know what else to suggest

Thanks for the help mate, I'm sure the guys will be in contact as and when.
Which kit do you recommend?

I've had a mk9100 for a few years in my tourer with premium sound system. I used the SOT-047 at the time, very straightforward installation and no issues.

However, the parrot amp is far from great and doesn't run the sub (in fact I don't think it runs the tweeters either - they must be through honda amp). Is there any straight forward way of getting the parrot to use the amp? Is this the 3 cable method people are talking about?

hia
the best kit for i pod would be dice or dension this will give you the best sound and operation eg all speakers working and full operation off steering wheel etc.

The reason all the speakers wont work off the parrot is because the amp on the PA is forward of the gear stick is set up into outputs of---
tweets
front doors
rear doors
subs
and the parrot can only run 2 of these. Thats why you will need the multi lead method or a few 5 pin realys but the best sounding option is go for a i-pod kit and a parrot ck3100.

hope this helps guys

What is the multi-lead method? Might give that a go if I know what I need and where it connects.

not sure on all the parts the sot listed above is a start but i must admit i use realys to "bring in all the speakers"
i can try and speak to a tech guy and get a parts list.
If your after a good sound use a dice or dension kit.
get some sound deadning something like the skins system to put behind the speakers and add some extra sound deadning to the rear shelf.

ive no pics as yet iam new on here ill try get some sorted, theres not to much to see in mine as ive mounted the parrot display in the cubby near the drivers right knee and the i pod cable is hidden in the box infront of the gear stick. iam not a fan of the mki9200 display and controler i think it looks clutterd. however ill up load pics soon.

I installed this kit in my non pss accord and also in a friends car.with pss bottom line one attempt on either car with sot 047 and it worked fine no additional cables or rewiring just plug and. Play okay only downside I installed it many years ago when 9200 first came out. Double check wiring, I remember once I ordered autoleads cable and the mute cable was labellesp wrong.

Sorry for ressorecting an old thread but I have a Parrot 9200 which I have had for a while now from another car but now that my HFT has given up I thought I would try to fit it. Have the so called correct loom and it all appears to work (I think!) however, everytime the speakers go onto mute whether it be by a in coming call or by my commands via the remote, the speakers bang loudly - and annoyingly so!
Does anyone recognise this and what have I done wrong??
