hi guy ive already got a post about leaking diesel and ive found it is coming from the injector (no 2) as whoever owned this car before has broken the injector clamp and put a 10mm bolt and massive washer to hold it in, however i have undone the bolt removed the injector and there doesnt seem to be any seal between the end of the injector and the head hence loads of caked on black stuff all up the side of the injector and on the cam cover. i am in need of some spares and i only have till wednesday to get the car working again, can anyone help im really desparate thanks

You might be worth giving Holdcroft Honda a ring on Monday. They should be able to sort you out and quickly. The parts should be with you on Tuesday if you order Monday.

Yep you need to buy new and from the main dealer to ensure correct fitment. Are you sure you can get the old injector out without breaking it? It's quite common for them to break. I wonder why someone felt the need to remove the injector in the first place.

If you can get the injector out that's half the battle. In my mates garage they call leaking injectors "Black Death". Once our and cleaned up you should be fine!

Problem is the injector needs coding, not essential but recommended, you need a dealer probably for this.

just a note to remember

You will have to get the new injector coded, for it to work to it's full potential, however it should get you back on the road at least until you can get to a dealer and have it coded.

From what you are describing also it sounds like the injector seat might need re-cutting, this unfortunately requires a special tool that Honda have. Have a look at this thread sounds like you have this issue as well and perhaps someone has tried to bodge it up in the past

Injector issues

As the guys have said really your best bet is giving Holdcroft Honda ( our affilated dealer) a call on Monday, if they can help with parts etc they will do. Don't forget to let them know your from here, better still read here Ordering parts from HH ;)

Hope it all works out for you

by the looks of things someone has removed your injector because it was leaking. there should only be one copper washer on the base of the injector. you menchon there is a 10mm bolt and washer holding the injector in? i would suspect whoever tryed to tighten the old bolt down has stripped the threads inside the head and had to use a bigger bolt and re-tap the threads inside the head. we have experianced the same thing at HH and it took burning out and breaking a £100 oil fed specialist drill bit to enlarge the hole in the injector clamp to allow for the larger bolt.
it is VERY IMPORTANT to make sure any injector is firmly held in place due to the preasures involved and a 10mm bold and washer does not cut it!

after another inspection injector 1 and 2 are both letting gasses escape and now the engine light is on. i cannot afford to get the car to honda to fix this problem so the car will have to sit on the drive till probably forever. the only way round this i can see is to completely change the head with the injectors already in place. or just bash it with a big hammer lol

do you think replacing the copper washers might be an option as i know with time the copper gets hard and will not compress to get a good seal. i have tried to heat them and dunk them in water to soften them but it had no affect. also i need a new clamp as the one with the 10mm bolt is in two pieces

maybe worth contacting a few of the scrap yards and see if you can pick one up then.

There was a recent thread on a few Honda Specific Scrap Yards

It sounds like someone has had a real good botch of it.

You will still need to visit Honda though to get the injectors recoded, as it has to be done via the HDS.

Why not seek out a decent diesel specialist, surely the few hundred quid spent is better than leaving it sat on the driveway!

Which git did you buy the car off?

you have been well and truely stuffed here. surely you could hear the chuffing when you bought it? if you manage to get the injectors out just make sure they are fitted the same as they came out else you will have to get the injector quantity ammount re-coded at a honda dealer. use new copper washers (one per injector) and clean the injector seats thourorly. 9 out of 10 injectors i have removed from the i-ctdi engine have had to be destroyed in order to remove them, and in one case we had to chizel off the rocker cover and fit a new head. we have left cars running all day, soaking in eveything you can think of and injectors still dont come out. from your description you say a 10mm bolt has been fitted to hold one of your injectors in. the standard bolts are T35 torx head bolts and due to the clamp being broken i would bet money on this being because they have tapped a bigger hole in the head. the trouble is, even if you buy a new clamp i doubt the bolt will fit through it and will require drilling. no normal drill bit will do the job! this is seriously hard metal we a talking about. it took two specialist oil fed drill bits at an enginers to get sorted (not a cheep solution) hense why the last person used a rather dodgy and dangerous washer and it appears sold the car on afterwards. sorry if i am coming accross a bit harsh but i just want you to know this is not a small job and it needs to be done propperly due to the preasures involved and the fact it is fuel you are messing with.

By the way in case anyone is wondering, Beefy is one of our trusted techs and works at our affiliated Honda main dealer in Stoke - he works on these cars day in day out.

i could hardly hear the chuffing as i expected it to be the downpipe, as for the clamp i can get it drilled locally. im going to honda tomorrow to get new clamp and copper washers both injectors came out with out a problem. hope this cheap fix will do the job

Fingers crossed for you mate.

i got every thing crossed lol just ordered the parts but wont have them for 3 days. i will post back when ive got the parts
