As you may or may not know there is a specialist company in the states called Hondata which specialise in the tuning of Vtech engines website at www.hondata.com.

Now the way they do things are different to what the like of Apexi do which simply control the engagement point of the Vtech. Hondata do two things.

1) a reflash of the ecu
2) use a reprogrammable ecu

1) a reflash uses basically the same ecu that is in the car but with new parameters for example say, fueling, air mixture, throttle input and Vtech engagement (to name but a few!). This is done in order to optimize the engine to gain full performance.
Some may ask- but why do you need to do this when the manufacturers should have produced full optimisation anyway? But we should all know that this is not the case, reasons for this are numerous...you can make your own speculations.
A reflash is advantageous in that the stock ECU is used (cheaper) and in
most cases the reflash is compatible with factory diagnostic equipment (as with the Hondata).

2) a Reprogrammable ecu - this is the full hog in terms of ECU tuning, a reprogrammable ECU is a full replacement, much more parameters are adjustable and allow the end user to customise any modifications they make in order to get the maximum benefit, in many cases the end user has easy access in order to reprogram the ECU themselves as well as extract much more diagnostic data from the ECU than with the standard ECU.
A full ECU replacement is expensive and is very much for the hard core enthusiast as compatibility with factory diagnostics maybe lost.

HONDATA
produce a generic optimised reflash for the Acura TSX in the states up to 2006. They also do a fully reprogrammable ECU but i'm not really interested in this...here I talk about the REFLASH ONLY.

If you don't know, the Acura TSX is basically the new Honda Accord in UK. However there are subtle differences..barring the interior. The 04 TSX actually has 10bhp more compared to the 04 Accord in UK and I know that in 06 the power of the TSX was upped further! I have no idea if the UK car got the same upgrades....but it does seems there are differences so therefore a reflash for an 04 may not necessarily be suitable for an 06 car.

The reason i think there are power differences is due to the Euro emission laws.....well issue aside..

Last I heard hondata had perfected the reflash on the 04 TSX...currently this is being tested on the 04 Accord in UK. Due to the differences in the 06 car Hondata seem to be doing further testing for those models....

The Torque and Power change - iVTEC!!
the so called ivtech in this generation of accord works slightly differently than the Vtech of old. with the old vtech you get a distinct pants in seat feel when the vtech engages....with the ivtech Honda have tried to REFINE the mechanism to achieve a more gradual transition (be it good or bad..that's what they did :D ).

With the Accord you should notice a slight change in pull and noise when your car reaches 6K rpm. If you look at the BHP and torque curves for the Accord you'll see a dip in BHP and torque from 5Krpm onwards until the Vtech engages at 6Krpm. this a really change from the Vtech from old.

With the old Vtech there was very little dip and when the Vtech engaged there was a distinct hike in BHP and torque.

Hondata cures this by lowering the Vtech point to 5000rpm and changing other parameters to eradicate this dip.

To me this would drastically change the driving characteristic of this already fine car and if you want to know more please have a look at the Hondata site!

Any questions please ask.

ofcourse i wrote this a while ago and since Hondata is an American company they really didn't have much interest in the UK Accords.....so we have our own version now....stay tuned something will be announced soon as soon as this site is done....

need more details of your remap al! Im super interested coz a remap will open up a whole load of mods for me as at the moment im sticking to chassis mods only

^^ bet the supercharger will come nicely now lol

lol na, i only want N/A powah!

Any more details al?

Oh man, I cannot wait to see what this is gonna be!!

matt, al's had his car mapped, his vtec crossover is just over 5k im sure he said. Im itchin to know the outcome when its on the rollers because the company who did it claimed 20bhp and 19lb ft torque on a standard K24  Extra grunt and a lower crossover, thats all i needed to hear

Oz, can you remember the name of the company who did the re-map!

You and me both pal !! I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for updates on this B)

Hey guys. Lets bump this dusty thread a lil bit ) Take a look what we have here .

Its a reflash, for EDM cars. Few road tests

Sorry, not shure i follow your question.

Sergey has confirmed to me via PM having looked at a photo of my ECU that he can indeed reflash any Accord 2.4 ECU. :)

Ok ppl , first pfl CL9 flashed in UK ! Waiting for the review.

My review

please remember i have ep3 gears 1-5

firstly the throttle pedal is much smoother.less jurky.and all the lag and rev hang from the dbw has gone.i found letting off the throttle in vtec.then trying to add throttle again made the car jerky on the stock map. this has been improved a lot.not elminited.but almost gone.you don't notice it as much

under 3000 rpm i didnt notice much difference in performance.but this must of been improved slightly as i found i could drive in traffic at 40mph in 6th with out changing down when i wanted to get to 60mph.when i normally change to 5th.under 3000 is most likly for eco driving and saving fuel.

3000-7600
this is the biggest improvement, the stock map made the k24 feel like a LAZY v6.all its torque pulling power was 3-5k rpm.then a massive drop of torque/power until 6k.then vtec for a few seconds.coming from a dc5 i was very disappointed .littlebo remap has taken the torque/power from 3-5k rpm and spread it across the the entire mid range and high rpm's.there is no loss of power from 3000-7500 rpm.it just keeps pulling. especialy after 4600 @WOT vtec engages. it feels like a kpro or k100 tuned k20 where the vtec cross over is smooth.its not a kick....the k24 is now very rev happy.with no drop in power to 7500rpm
when stock i found i was waiting ages for engine to pick up from 5-6k rpm.

i also found on the stock map i keeped hitting the rev limiter.as vtec window was so small.adding another 400rpm has added 5 mph to each of my gears.and lots of fun

now i have this remap i ve stopped day dreaming about the cl7 euro R with is free reving k20.

this map should of been on the car from factroy

Great feedback UKCL9, this is very good to hear. And good work Littlebo.

Very interesting what year was this K24?

And is this a Hondata flash or are you actually flashing the stock ecu and rewriting the factory maps?

03, stock ecu. I told ya some time ago, you have to remember )

I'm sure you did mate, apologies if I don't recall.

I'm interested mostly because my kid brother has a 2003 K24 and it's too old for us to tune!!

I'm interested in what tools you used to read and flash if you can share in private. We've worked on plenty of the FN2 K20, the R18 and even K24 in the newer 8th gen but not the older petrol 7th gens.

That's fair enough mate, good luck to you.

We have no real interest in tuning these anyway, it was more for personal interest. PM me with a price for tuning.

So you can remap an 03 k24 with the need for a tsx replacement?
Vtec seems almost pointless to me, disappointing after a life time of b16's k20's, f20's.

Is it only XO Power that does it?

Lol ) Fahad, all details you can find in documents for CPU this ECUs built around, developmet kits are shared for free. Anyway, If you dont interested to tune em - you dont need this though. I also have reflashes for CL7, CU2 and FN2 that really works, gonna release em soon for UK guys and post road testing vids.

Just went on the xo power website and its either down or gone.
I found it a few weeks ago!

How much is it and how long does it take?
