Hey guys
I'm going to look at a silver 2.0 Vtec Executive tomorrow, but it doesn't have a rear spoiler. I'm wondering how easy it is to fit one, if I get one and get it sprayed.

Very. All you need is a marker pen, and drill, the correct size drill bit and a screwdriver.

Took me about 10 mins to fit the spoiler to my old 6th gen.

If it's a hatchback you will also need the uprated struts as the standard ones will not be strong enough to hold the tailgate up.

I have a type r spoiler on myne and my tailagate holds up fine maybe im just lucky because i didnt uprate struts so maybe he should go for a type r spoiler :D :D :D

Is yours a hatch Pete? I thought it was a saloon.

Cheers for the help guys. I reckon I might get a type R spoiler, get it fitted, and see if I need to replace them then. I don't use the boot much anyhoo. I bought an Accord yesterday, 2.0 Vtec SE Exec. Looks great, but it needs a spoiler lol!

IMHO you only need a little low spoiler to really set the 6th off. I used to have a little spoiler on mine and it looked great. Much better than the ATR spoiler if im honest.

Yeah, I have the same opinion.
What spoiler did you have in yours? Any pictures?

Yeah, got a few

P.S In the pics the ATR is still standard. I'd only had her about a month,

WOW!, Simon your 6th gen saloon is so pretty, the bodykit transforms it, kind of looks a bit like the legend from the back, what kind of body kit did you get?
Also, do you have any pics of the front?

Simon, the spoiler looks good, but I guess it would look even better if it wasn't so curved. I guess it should be more parallel to the boot line.

Also, is that specific to the Accord or is it form another car?

Thanks for the comments dudes. The spoiler is a curnved one becuase it looks more understated than a square one and with the kit it suited better. There used to be a chap on here called Mike who had a square one and his car just had alloys and was lowered and it looked stunning. It's from an accord kit. I got the whole kit from here.

I do have some pics of the full kit for you Yadash. I just need to find them and then i'll put them up.

Rash mate i think that's the one that Mike had!!!

Great looking car btw!!!!! Any more pics of her anywhere?

Thanks man :D
I think the curved spoiler looks better too but on the ATR the square one just suits it perfectly

Out of interest, is the spoiler the same on the hatch as it is on the saloon?

Are they interchangable?

Well they aren't the same but you can use any spoiler you want on the back of your car because all you need to do is drill. I think the spoiler on the hatch is a bit lower than the one on the saloon as the saloon one imitates the one found on the ATR.

I can get my hands on one of these for my saloon. it now sits on the back of a hatch.

will I need special struts do you think?
it is £60 delivered and the right colour, does that seem reasonable?

To me it looks a good price :)
I am also looking for one like that, but it's not easy to find decent prices due to shipping costs to Portugal :(
In Portugal it's almost impossible to find cars like ours in a break yard...

Just get the standard spoiler for it, the low one. Thats what i've got on mine.

This looks the biz but where the holes would appear to go is a double layer with about 1 inch gap?
can i get a picture of the boot lid from inside to see how the fastenings fit and how it looks from underneath?
Would be obliged ,mike

Humm, that looks interesting, although I would have to paint it.
Thanx ;)

Edit: Oh, I have noticed that it's for the hatchback

I managed to get a hand on a spoiler from a saloon, painted in the right color for 60€(postage included). Received it today and it's in great condition.
I will only be able to fit it in a couple of weeks, when I go visit my parents, where I can use a drill around the car :p

I have been looking several guides on how to install the spoiler and it's quite straight forward, just drill the holes, put the nuts, and connect the wires.

In the guides made for Honda(American Honda) that I saw, they disconnect the 3rd brake light to connect the one from the spoiler. How did you guys connected the spoiler brake light? Did you kept the original 3rd brake light or did you disabled it?

Also, some guides mention the use of self-adhesive tape, did you use any?

I also noticed that I should replace the springs of the tailgate, but the guy who sold me the spoiler did wanted to removed them (or didn't knew how). Does the tail gate gets much more heavy?

I saw some "hacks" for replacing the torsion springs for gas struts, has anyone done this?
