Does anyone know the specs or of a straight swap replacement for the sub in the tourer ex? I wanna keep the boot tidy and don't want to bother with wiring and new amp but i would like more bass. The standard item seems to be made by pioneer, it's not in a sealed box could it be free-air? Any help would be nice.

Not sure about sub however you could you use under seat active subwoofer such as vibe optisound 8 has high and low inputs so can work off speaker feed

The cigarette lighter socket in the boot could be used as the power source, subject to amp requirements.

I think you may need more power than that a direct fused feed from battery would be more appropriate

All I could find is its a Pioneer 20cm/8" driver. PN: 39120SEDE01 I believe.

I have not pulled my one out but if it's not sealed behind it could well be free air however I am ***uming they have built the enclosure it sits in specific to the driver so if you swap it out there is a chance the replacement will sound awful. Plus the built in amp is not a big amp so I doubt there is a lot of power there to drive the standard one, at a guess I would say 100w at the most looking at the size of the built in amp doing all four corners plus the woofer.

Your best bet for more bass will probably be additional amps/enclosure/subs. Bass is one of those things when you get used to one level you keep wanting more and its an endless battle. Trust me coming from someone who used to build demo/competition SPL cars many years ago...........

The standard setup is not too bad considering the age of the system and when it was designed, sounds better than most modern cars this old premium setup (proper class AA/AB no doubt rather than the cr*p class D stuff you get these days), it all matches quite well. I fear if you change one thing it may throw the sound out and you'l be endlessly chasing ways to make the other bits falling behind sound better.
