Wee search on google and wd40 was highly recommended over those tar remover products. Just happened to have some too. Tried it and it worked a treat. Washed the side down applied it a couple of time to a small area at a time and worked on it with a cloth. Took about 30 mins to remove all tar from the passenger side and there was alot of it. Then gave it a good wash. Looks good as new. Local car wash charges £23 for a de-tar. I'll DIY it thanks :)

Just a quick note to those who may not have used a clay bar before -

Clay Bars should only ever be used on a well washed and cleaned surface.

Any dirt on the paint surface could cause scratches and "marring".

Always use a Clay Bar Lubricant to reduce the friction between your Clay Bar and the paint finish.

There should be very little or no pressure applied, the bar should pull the contaminants from the surface.

White spirit is very good for removing tar spots plus it's cheap and doesn't do any harm to your paint work .
