when I get out of my car after driving I get a strong smell as if something is burning, Its definately coming from under the bonnet because the smell becomes stronger when I open it, I reckon its coming from the radiator maybe??? anybody any suggestions as to what it could be, The car was low on coolant last year but I topped it up very quickly so as not to cause any damage, No warning lights appear on the dash at all, B)

could be a fluid dripping onto the exhaust. Id advise you have a proper look under the car. Perhaps get it on a ramp with the engine running.

Thnaks for that, I have no access to a ramp, I know from doing the last service myself that there are no leaks (that I can see of), The radiator looks oily if thats makes sense, if i touch it i get a black greasy stain on my finger, Is that the way it should be? or does it have problem?

when you day you topped the water back up did you do it when the engine was hot with cold water

How long ago did you do the service? If it was very recent did you change the oil filter? If so I think it may be coming from the oil that dripped from there onto the exhaust when taking the filter off?

How much water did your radiator need, and did you add any coolant to it?

How is the water level now and are you having to top it up a lot? Does your car run at normal temperature? Any steam coming from the radiator area?

What kind of a burning is it? like rubber or plastic burning or like oil burning?

when it was cold I topped up with blue honda coolant, It didnt take much, I topped up to the radiator cap and filled the reservoir half full

800 miles ago was the last time i serviced it (oil change + filter change)
The smell has been present for the last 5,000 miles i clocked up, I just kept ignoring it as I couldnt find the problem myself now its just annoying me

It didnt need much just a top up, The level is fine now, its full not needing a top up at all
i`m not sure what normal running temperature is ? The needle on thegauge always reads half way up when The car is warmed up and it doesnt fluctuate, seems to be fine to me
i dont see any steam now but when it needed a top up there was some steam bot much very little,

it could be anything burning F6HAD, i wish I could answer your questions ;)

I think the next stage maybe to give the engine a good clean, degrease it and maybe give it a steam clean. You will then be able to tell if its something leaking?

Where on the radiator is it "oily" any indication of oil leak from the engine block.

Is the air con working?

Is the oily grease in one location on the radiator or all over it?

Is it the radiator that is smelling or in particular the greasy stuff?

Does your cars radiator have an overflow bottle next to it? If so take this out and see if there's any liquid on the bottom of it.

DO THIS WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD THOUGH!!!! ;)

Havent found out what the problem is guys, just too busy, car is running fine otherwise so its not serious :D
