Thank you very much! Really helpful. For some reason I didn't get a notification for your replies. I will investigate as suggested and report my findings.

    NSF window took a dive!

Sigh, okay, so whilst we're waiting for the Insane Shafts to arrive for the 2.4l, the NSF window decided it was feeling a bit attention starved as well. Tonight I tried to open it from the driver's door control module whilst sitting in traffic but all it did was click and run the motor, no...

2.4 Vibration - Drive Shaft Splines?

A set of Insane Shafts have been ordered from Funky Power in Ayrshire, £395 + £9.50 postage. So no need to import them directly from Anaheim in California, Funky Power deal with that, slightly cheaper from what I was able to calculate. I'll fit them and report further. Here are the exact...

2.4 Vibration - Drive Shaft Splines?

Thank you Matt, I will start poring through that now. As an edit to my original post, can somebody tell me how I would be sure that a set of Insane Shafts would be the solution and not a tripod joint. I have not had the chance to find work tripod joint symptoms. Thanks

2.4 Battery / Electrical issue after flat ...

Hello, Sorry for the late reply. Turns out you were both entirely correct. The earth at the body was bent and corroded and the battery must have had a collapsed cell as a result. Changed the earth for a new one and installed the new battery. No more problems and no more alarm issues either...

2.4 Vibration - Drive Shaft Splines?

Hello, My 2004 2.4 Exec has 124,000 miles on it and used to only have a slight vibration shimmy passing through 24mph. Recently it has developed a violent vibration in the 55-80mph band. The vibration is worst the more accelerator is being used. If you depress the clutch the vibration stops...

2.4 Battery / Electrical issue after flat ...

Thank you F6HAD, The tweaks to the terminals made no difference unfortunately. Taking your words on board, I've just got back from Euro Car Parts after work today, armed with a Bosch S4 025 540A 60Ah battery, reduced from £150 to £82 in this weekend's bank holiday sale. I'll install it and...

2.4 Battery / Electrical issue after flat ...

Hello, I left my 2004 2.4 sitting for two months after MOT, predictably the battery went flat. Bought a 5amp CTEK charger and left it on for over a week. A few moments after hooking up the charger the alarm went bananas but thankfully I'd already stumbled across advice about this from FredoFrog...

    Shorter drive belt size?

I'll just replace the alternator along with a standard belt and the A/C compressor can just tear itself to bits. Bigger fish to fry. Thanks again for all the input.

    Shorter drive belt size?

I don't know what the he'll is going on. Thank you very much for your replies gentleman. I thought the idler pulley was the belt tensioner.

    Noisey electiric car whine

Apparently perished o-rings at the power steering pump can cause this too, there's a few youtube videos about it. Do you have a leak on your main top high pressure power steering line? I think air was getting in the system from the leak that I had in that line.

    Shorter drive belt size?

Oh I don't know about the idler pulley?!

    Shorter drive belt size?

Hmm, enigmatic and brief, is this one of the clues from the Times crossword?!

    Noisey electiric car whine

I had this when I bought the car, power steering fluid was leaking and hardly any fluid in the reservoir, once that was sorted the noise was gone. Next whine was shot A/C compressor pulley bearing, this week's whine is failing alternator.
