Honda accord 2.2 ex
Hi I own a 2009 accord ex with premium sound system and I decided to upgrade my standard subwoofer to an aftermarket subwoofer in the boot.

I've run the power from the battery and done the remote hook up it powers/lights up fine

I used the existing subwoofer wire terminal to connect a line output converter for the sound but nothing absolutely nothing comes out the subwoofer.

I'm using a kenwood mono amp solely for subwoofer and an alpine r sub

Any suggestions as to why I have no sound ? Thanks

The Honda sound system is a lot more complicated then you might think.
I don't know enough about them to tell you what the issue is but I have seen several threads like yours where people have tried to add aftermarket parts and is has not worked.

you have premium audio system, and so, there is amp in the back somewhere (in touring - amp is under the boot floor, near navigation DVD) i dont know where it is in SEDANs.
so subwoofer is powered by oem amp, and if you decide to swap it with aftermarket, it must be exactly the same to power it up.

anyway, it is much easier to upgrade accords sound system if they were lowest and simplest grade (radio + 4 speakers). so there is no amps, no subwoofers, no tweeters, satellites etc.., then yes. You can wire everything with aftermarket parts (add a amp + subs + everything you want).
On the other hand, premium audio system is more complex and advanced, comes with amp + subs + tweets + satellites and center speaker, and so if you decide to change, you should change into the same part, otherwise, you should change every part in circuit.

I was thinking of just splicing into the oem amp so I can run an additional sub and piggy back of the signals. But it does seem like it's more hassle than its worth! Premium sound system is pretty decent I'd just like a bit more bass ;)
I'm ***uming then as the sound system is a lot more complicated, it's not as simple as piggy backing off the signal to amp wiring? as essentially that's all that's needed to get the amp to work, everything else I can wire up myself pretty easily.

If anyone knows where the amp is in a saloon I can have a look and see if it's doable :)
