Howdy folks,

Just browsing around and I've noticed there is a new xcarlink system available:
http://www.xcarlink.co.uk/home.php?cat=3

Claims that car control now work with apps such as Spotify, Google Play etc.

Has anyone on here installed this new system and can they verify?

I've been looking at alternatives to Xcarlink as I have an android phone with spotify, and without being able to use the car controls I couldn't justify the cost, but if the steering and touchscreen (satnav model) controls now work then it's probably worth it.

If not another option I was looking at was running an aux cable into the armrest, then using something like this:
http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/kanex-airblue-portable-bluetooth-music-receiver-a58nf

So it's charginig via the 12v in there permenantly as well.

There is always the 3rd option, bluetooth/FM transmitter combo, but not sure the sound quality would be too great.

Both look interesting, not sure how well either of them work but I'd like to find out more

Bluetooth is fine for me in the car, expecially giving the convenience it adds, but the last adaptor I tried with a parrot system only worked on the 4 main door speakers and not the tweeters which put me off

At the moment I have an FM adaptor connected to an old iPhone that just lives in the car. sound quality is pretty good but it has the downsides of occasionally needing to switch the frequency if you journey outside you local area and you clash with a different radio station and that you need to change track etc via the phone/ipod handset. I'd be tempted to get an Xcarlink at some point so it would be interesting to know if the new model is any good.

I might be a bit late in the day, but I bought and installed the HONDA WIRELESS BLUETOOTH STREAMING HANDSFREE INTERFACE last week and have been ver impressed. I've got the non-nav accord (54 plate) with the premium sounds system. To install I didn't have to take off the dash above the head unit, just the trim and cubby boxes below and plug it into the CD changer socket on the under side of the head unit. I cut a small hole in the back of the upper cubby box (the one with the flip down lid) and mounted the box in there so that I could use the aux in and USB power point if required. The unit pairs really easily via Bluetooth and effectively mimics a Bluetooth headset; you can steam anything that would normally play over the audio of your phone (I've tried two iPhone 5s and an android tablet). You can be playing music and use the sat-nav on your phone (music level dips to give voice directions), then if you get a call the music will pause as you accept the call (you can accept or reject via the FFWD/RWD rocker button) and resume afterwards. My wife really wasn't impressed when I showed her the plasticky black box I'd spent £135 on, but she tried it the other day (unprompted and unsupervised!!!) and is now raving about it! So far, I'd highly recommend it.

Ps. Sound quality is excellent. I get pretty rubbish radio 4 (getting old, I know) reception on my way to work, but I can stream via iplayer radio and I would say that I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the streamed quality and a DAB radio.

I also have the new bluetooth xcarlink in my accord tourer and tbh its amazing:) I have noticed though that I get less bass through the premium sound system subwoofer compared to the cd player. Very odd.

I changed recently sound system in mine accord 2007 2.4 petrol .
I installed Polk Audio amplifier with speakers and LC7i Lock . I was using it with old xcarlink SKU424 ,I tried sound quality from SD card MP3 , pendrive , and from aux .I mainly listening music from YouTube or Amazon through my mobile .
The best quality you can get throught old unit is aux (3.5 mm jack ).
SD card and pendrive quality is rubbish ....

I just bought new xcarlink sku703 with Bluetooth streeming ,
The customer service told me the quality on Bluetooth is better than aux on old unit .
I trusted them and they were right .

I can't see any bass cut off.sound is really good ,
I even bought some audio cd to compare quality and I my personal opinion sound from Xcarlink is better...
The big plus is you have full control on steering wheel too.

Great unit .

I installed a Xtrons head unit. It works OK, but it seems like the US version of the accord doesn't have a built-in amplifier. The EU version does. Therefore, the Xtrons headunit comes with its own amplifier built into the head unit (most probably with poor isolation/grounding). This means that there's an audible hiss whenever the headunit is on, unless you bypass the Accord's OEM amplifier.
