Just wondered if anyone else has this issue?
On reversing car it judders like ******y
I phoned dealer and they said known problem on diesel bring it in.
They have car today and said fine they all do it???
Never had any car do this in the past.
You have to give it about 2000rpm to stop it doing it

This is the 1st case Lee on the 8th iv heard of.

Is yours petrol Brett

Can't see your sig on my phone

Yes Lee petrol the only 2.4 manual on hear as yet

Would love to hear if possible from diesel 8thgen owners if their car has a judder or not when reversing, cheers

Lee just a thought have your car had all the ECU updates.
I'm not sure if this applies but there were updates on the Auto box and injector or fuelling problems.
Also what is the mileage on the car and have it always done this.

Lee also just noticed your car is a type S
There was a problem with vibration in the cabin caused by the clutch.
Honda I'm sure fitted a damper to the clutch pipes to stop this noise.

According to honda database there are no updates due for the car.

Mine is manual option and I don't really have cabin noise, it is louder than old 7th gen though

Wonder if the vibration is down to clutch damper issue?

Any way of finding out if a recal was done or what honda have advised if a customer comes in with judder issue?

Instead of just ranting at dealer if I have something solid to give them they might look a bit further.

Dealer I use seems at the moment to want to investigate as little as possible, it's like they don't want to hassle honda.

My wife's type r is in for new 3rd gear tomorrow but only because I pressed for it and told them honda said change it if the customer insists.

Lee I would say if the damper hasn't been fitted this would be a good place to look.
This only affected the type S saloon and tourer

Yeah on the 'other' accord website, they mention the type S recall for clutch noise, but thats like a release bearing noise. They fit a damper to the clutch hydraulic pipes to stop it. Also says just 2009 models.
Juddering to me would say clutch and or dual mass flywheel worn, but you'd think it would do it in forward gears also.

Phoned another dealer and they said most common question on the diesel 8th gen they get.
He said Honda sent a bulletin out about it that on reversing it judders and it does it more if going up slight incline
Well that has answered that question and seems to me I'll just have to put up with it :-(

Well even if its not the ideal answer, at least now you know bud. It's just another one of those quirky characteristics

Try owning a Saab, that's full of quirks!!

My opinion and yes it's only mine but this 8 th gen is just not as good as my old 7 th
Handling better, no judders, engine better and quieter, more mpg
My view on this is diesel get a 7th gen, petrol get an 8 th gen :)

I have a judder in forward & reverse gears but at 119000 miles its also slipping intermittently as the auto adjust must keep taking up the final bits of wear, the clutch & DMF are being replaced next week so i'll see how it drives after that & update.

Note this is a SAC 2 clutch meaning self adjusting clutch series 2 this is why the pedal feel or bite does not change as it wears LUK claim it lasts up to 1.5 times longer.

The problem was it went in for fitting on Tuesday the garage didn't want to do the job without the compression tool we found one on e bay for £120 most are £300 plus.

After speaking to LUK technical they said if your very careful you can still bolt up without the tool but you risk distorting the self adjusting mechanisam so be careful that your workshop don't just bolt it up as if its a normal pressure plate as its easy to miss that its self adjusting, luckily for us there was a leaflet enclosed with the Honda OE clutch & it states. DO NOT ATEMPT TO INSTALL WITHOUT THE COMPRESSION TOOL IRREVERSIBLE DAMAGE WILL ACCUR.

Just an update i had my DMF & clutch replaced 3 weeks ago now & its like driving a different car no judders.

Surprisingly there was still plenty on the clutch plate but the flywheel had excessive side play, if you push this to much you can end up with starter motor damage & worse case a cracked bellhousing if the DMF brakes up.

Old topic, but heh lol

My 2009 Type S has the same horrible judder in reverse, and some judder in 1st

Is this just a problem with the 8th gen? I mean its pretty bad when u dont lay on enough revs in reverse.

Im trying to sell my accord, and this is one major sticking point...

Im interested in this too. What was the problem , why does it judder? My has 170km on the clock and it judders in 1st and reverse very bad.
