Test drove an Accord 2.2 i DTEC EX 4dr (08) - enocountered noise

I've got the hatchback. Boot is bigger than the 8th gen tourer. 590 litres. 1.2 TSi 110ps petrol, dont laugh... Its really good, £30 road tax, average 50 mpg. 0% finance also.

    Model/Engine Identification

The 2 choices are the Euro4 or 5 version of the N22B engine. Does your engine number show the KN or KE letters. Engine number is on your V5 reg doc, it might also say if it is Euro 4 or 5. Euro 6 is in force now, so I'd imagine the 8th gen would be Euro 5, but I could be wrong.

I went for the Octavia as the boot and back seat space are much bigger than the Accord.

2012 Facelift headlights fit Pre Facelift 2009?

I'd recommend getting a HID kit for your existing lights. Facelift and pre Facelift parts dont easily swap over.

    Petrol or Diesel?

You need to drive them to make a decision. A lot of people slag the 2.0 off, I had mine for 3 years and was really pleased with it. It does need revs to get going, but its better than the old vtecs, easy to diy service, chain cam and no major issues to worry about. Will do over 40mpg on a...

Not a huge difference in road tax or mpg, so the 2.4 isnt as expensive as people think. The 2.0 is ok, not much torque, but get the revs up and she goes well.

Test drove an Accord 2.2 i DTEC EX 4dr (08) - enocountered noise

A petrol will last as long as a diesel with proper maintenance. Also no turbo or dpf to worry about. If I was keeping a car that long and for those miles I would get the 2.0 petrol. Its easy to diy service, cam chain should last, and you'll get 40mpg on a long run. iDtec struggles to get over...

Type S Grill vs EX standard grill

No difference, the type S has the same chrome grill with 3 bars. You're thinking of the modulo sports grill, colour coded with a single bar. Holdcroft Honda can get them.

New Tourer with DPF issues within 7 days

This isn't just an Accord problem any high mileage diesel with a DPF can have this. People dont understand they are a service item, they dont last over 100k miles, if they do you're lucky. Any fuel saving for diesel has been wiped out. Buy a petrol.

    Need some advice on a 2008 2.0

This is the 2.0 R series engine, also in the Civic. 1.The aux belt may be slipping a bit. They do whine a fair bit even when good. The EGR valve on the back corner of the engine also clicks. All normal. 2. Idle speed is low, especially when aircon is on. 3. Speakers are a common failure, get...
