    Cars going in for repairs.

Dont spend too much. There comes a point where it might be better to get a new or newer car.

    No more Accord?

Calm down exec, this isnt Honda Karma. You dont have to hate everything German on here to stay in with the HK crowd. Honda's are more reliable and better made though, thats true.

    What does the forum think?

Look lovely, but as you say you lose some comfort. My new Octavia has 16" alloys, look ok and the ride is smooth.

    6th generation, but Mk7 ?

Yeah I've noticed sometimes the 8th gen is shown as an Accord IX, so 9th gen!

Each to his own, Eric. Accord was lovely, but with the mileage getting up it was needing more spent on it, and the high road tax and fuel consumption also. I did consider a HRV, but gave up waiting. Also I'm not sure how good the Mexican build will be.

Cheers guys. The Octavia is very refined, lot of car for the money. Boot on the hatch is bigger than the 8th gen Tourer, filled up to the window line. Also the road tax is only £30, something Honda haven't capitalised on in the UK market, although from 2017 the Chancellor has got rid of all...

    Moving on

Hi guys, Sorry to say I have sold my Accord and I'm getting a skip........... a Skoda Octavia! I've enjoyed being on here, thanks for the banter and tips. I've enjoyed the Accord, I'm sure I'll miss the comfy seats and quiet cruising. My spare wheel, and mats are for sale in the Sale section...

    Few questions about my accord

I've got a Tourer full size steel spare for sale at the moment if you are interested. Its a 16" steel with tyre, only had it for 2 years, bought new, only used very briefly once. Also complete with the lock down bolt for the boot, to stop it moving, PM me if interested.

    speedometer with miles/km

When I had a left hand drive car here for a bit, I didn't find it a big problem tbh. Certainly not worth spending any money on. You only need to remember the important ones approx e.g. 30mph = 50kmh, 50mph = 90kmh, and 70mph = 120kmh.

    Washing machine

Roof tapers in quite a bit from the sides and the hatch, plus the seats dont lie quite flat.

Might be tight... Get the tape measure out.

    speedometer with miles/km

That could be quite hard to do, I dont think you can just swap the instrument cluster. Its not a legal requirement in the UK, your car will pass an MoT, its just your responsibility to stick to the MPH speed limits, even with a KMH display. You might be able to get a cluster from a scrap car...

    2.4 - Surely I must be insane!

Maybe consider getting a little buzz box for your commute with stop start tech, VW Up, Seat Mii, Skoda Citigo, Aygo, 107 etc. No road tax, low emissions etc. Most can be leased for £99 a month. Then keep your proper car with a 2.4 for the weekend....

    Sell privately or p/x

Definitely advertise on here and Honda Karma, as the 2.4 has quite a cult following so you should stand a good chance if you price it sensibly. Also have a look on Webuyanycar.com to get a guide price of what its worth. Useful for private and trade in to give you an idea. They are owned by BCA...

    Strange whirring grinding noise

At 155k miles you might as well keep it and run it until it fails. Its not going to be worth spending too much as the resale value wont be that big, 8th gens dont fetch big money at high miles, the value of mine is dropping and I've only done half your miles... Maybe try and find a used gearbox...

    Strange whirring grinding noise

Hi Tony, How many miles did you drive it for when you we're having to 'force it into gear'? How many miles has the car done in total? I think forcing it into gear has done the damage to the gears, would have been best to get the clutch changed sooner. Might have to look at an exchange...
