Fault 2: p16a4 (OSR ABS/Speed Sensor faulty). Which might be right as the VSA ABS light thing came on when it was being washed at the hand car wash and the jet wash hit the wheels

    Error codes

I now have my error codes. P1237 - which on google is something to do with fuel pump - not great, but still have faith in changing that fuel filter P1065 - something to do with power to the ecu - which I hope/presume is due to the flat battery from the knackered alternator, now changed. P16A4...

    Labour rate on fuel filter

^ I could, but I am a complete numpty when it comes to mechanics. I also don't fancy ending up with an air lock. On saying that, who has the best fuel filter write how to on here?

    Exhaust fumes/smell in cabin I-CTDI

Carbon monoxide poisoning isn't really something you want your missus to get (unless you don't like her). Horrible stuff CO. It would be interesting to see if anybody has been seriously affected by the fumes whilst driving to the point of collapse or hospitalization.

    Labour rate on fuel filter

^ That is what bothers me. The rates seem to fluctuate so much at main dealers. When I had my Saab and they told me it was 89+VAT I burst out laughing at the service man. Paid them 68 quid to diagnose the faults then sent it over to a friends garage who charge 35 per hour to do the work. I...

    Labour rate on fuel filter

Cheers. Just trying to prepare my head mentally for the upcoming wallet battering again. Do dealers generally do a service if I supply the stuff? I've always had my mate do the work on my other cars, but the fuel filter looks like a pig and he can't be bothered with the hassle of it. I...

    2012 new MOT rules

There are a lot of low riding VW owners worried about this just now. Especially the mad ones who decided that chassis notching was a good idea to get as low as they could.

    Labour rate on fuel filter

What should I be paying labour wise on a fuel filter being replaced? If using Honda it would have to be Springfield here in Newcastle, although I have been recommended a specialist racing garage near by that has a Honda tech working for them.

    No go then limp mode

New OBD 2 scanner ordered. Old one was a OP_COM only, although I'm sure I've used it on other cars in the past.

    No go then limp mode

Does using an aftermarket air filter and oil filter make much difference? I can't believe that Eurocarparts charge 17 quid for an air filter.

    convert to solid flywheel?

Interesting reading. I drove a MK4 Golf with SMF and it was loud at standstill. Sounded as if it was broken, but the PD engine is rough loud but torquey.

    No go then limp mode

Happy to have it mapped out if that fixes it. Does that stop it sticking or od I need to unstick it first before remapping it? Fuel filter wise - Is the Bsoch fuel filter the same as a genuine honda one? Any idea if Holdcroft Honda will be cheaper for the oil and filters as well? Their battery...

    No go then limp mode

So the alternator has been replaced and everything electric wise is ok for the moment. The power steering pump is noisy and is on its way out one day, but not too fussed about that just now. What I am concerned about is the lack of go. 1st is okish 2nd onwards there is nothing until...

    7th gen stock 16" alloys

I'm in much the same dilema just now with a set of Saab 17's I have. Do I sell them individually and maximise my profit but risk ending up with three or one wheel left over. Or sell as a set, get less money, but get them shifted.

    Cheap 7th Gens at Auction

The car I just got had a knackered alternator. The saab I picked up before it had a swirl flap bar, and a whine. The golf before it was spotless. His and miss, shame I can't afford that these days. Fingers crossed it's under a couple of hundred for the accord to be fixed, if not it's patched...

    My little session today

Boiled linseed oil is good for brining dull plastics back to life, but remember to store the used rags in a steel biscuit tin and keep in sealed.
