Accord Tourer diesel
The 2004 accord tourer with only 56,000 miles. Cold engine gives massive shudder and failure to start.Turn off then try again and it starts and runs perfectly every time until the engine is cold, and the shudder returns. No vibration or gear change problems and clutch action perfect. Drive very smooth. My third Accord Tourer and over 100,000 in the last one, it showed the same symptom maybe four or five times over its life. Any ideas. My mechanic initially says the dual mass flywheel problem but now doesn’t think this is the problem. Help.

I would hazard it is a clogging fuel filter, have you tried draining it ?
Hello
Thank you for that advice. When I purchased in May 24, it had been serviced including a fuel filter. The same thing crossed my miind so I changed the fuel filter for a genuine Honda / Bosch one but to no effect. Acceleration, performance etc is all bang on with it returning 52 mpg. Thank you for replying though and do promptly

Could be a sticking egr valve. Try temporarily blanking it at the inlet manifold side. You’ll get an error but you can clear it off with a basic code reader just for the purpose of this test. If it works then consider an egr off permanent solution, drop me a line if you want details.
