I have a 2006 Honda Accord which has not been started in a year. Two of the tyres require to be pumped up and have started to a notice a bit of rusting on the brakes. Obviously the battery will need to be replaced. What should steps should I take before starting the car? What are things would like need replacing to get the car back in working condition again? The last I drove the car it was in good working condition.

Many Thanks

The fuel may well have gone off so it may need flushing through or at least topping up with lots of fresh.

Do no harm to drain the oil and refill it with fresh.

If it's petrol then take the plugs out and crank it over until the oil light goes off before you start it so you know you have pressure.

Depending how rusty the disks are then may need replacing if they wont clean up and the brakes themselves could be seized.

Flat tyres may have deformed and so may need replacing.
