8 disc cd changer problem

Not sure if anyone has had this problem but I have an 8 disc cd changer in the boot which has stopped working , it's been fine since I've owned the car but it has stopped working within the last week or so.

The changer itself seems to work as in it loads discs plus counts them one by one as you load the mag but the head unit does not recognise that it has a cd changer at all . I use to be able to flick from radio to CDC to cd but it no longer says CDC . I've checked the wiring inc both of the plugs ( head unit end and changer end ) but they are fine .

Has anyone come across this before and is there any sort of reset for these units?

Just a quick update , after not working for the last two weeks or more it has just started to play ball again and started to work perfectly ( strange ).

Tell me about lol. I've been messing around with the cable for the last week trying to see if it's just a broken wire plus had the cd changer apart to clean the laser lens ( non of which seemed to do any good ). Today I had ago at running an iPod feed into the aux cable which didn't work either ( not that I thought it would ) , with that I thought I would plug the changer back in just so I didn't have any cables loose in the boot ( and would you beleive it ? It started to work again ) lol.

If there's one thing I hate is having a problem but never really knowing what went wrong in the first place . Let's just see how long it stays working for lol.
