I think Marcus is the brother with the skills to pay the bills when it comes to early Gen's, but anyone who knows about general information, performance, expected inner city fuel consumption in relation to 2.0l Exi (1987) would be great. I'm still working on the Soarer, but an interesting opportunity may have come about...

Single cam 12v engine or 16v twin cam mate? I have the figures for the twin cam in the documents from my car if they'd be of use to you

Josh! Thanks for your reply dude. Its a 12v i believe, looking stanced out, so aesthetically its fine, however i have no experience of the engine or vehicle in general tbh.

I've not got too much experience of them either to be honest! :p I've only driven mine 30 miles so far, just waiting to get it back from my mate's garage at the moment so I can have a play :) Here's the fuel efficiency figures for my 3rd gen, they're the original ones in the owners book from when the car was bought so they're official-ish. Mine's the DOHC 16v engine, but I'm sure the figures won't be too detached from what yours would be - hope they help!

DOHC have better fuel economy than SOHC motors, this was the main reason for manufactures opting to go for DOHC, however a nice side effect is that the intake and exhaust cams a separate and therefore can be fine tuned for a bit more power. This is why most DOHC have more power output.

So id expect the 12v to be more torquey than the 16v, but have 3-4mpg less around town. At a guess, based on my figures, and Josh's figures, id say 25mpg around town, with 32mpg 33mpg on a run.

So you are getting one? :p

Thats looks lovely.

I have been looking for a good condition early 90's 4th gen for a while but can't seem to find one anywhere.
