Finally got round to testing air con compressor clutch with Honda HDS laptop.

The air con doesn't click in.

Ive got the laptop on and triggering the clutch but it is not clicking on and off but I can hear the revs dropping. I can only get it to do this with the laptop.

there is no gas in as i put a new pressure sensor in but should the clutch still engage without gas (through the laptop) or am I safe to say I need a new compressor clutch.

If you can’t hear it clicking then chances are it’s goosed.

you can try manually triggering the clutch with a positive lead direct from your battery terminal, with engine off.

Do you mean bridge it on the relay or touch it on the compressor somewhere on the plug - although cant even get the plug off ive got chunky hands

Yes run a fly lead from the battery positive terminal direct to the positive connector on the compressor, when you touch the pin it will energise the clutch.

Cheers, I will try that. Should the fans come on when i am pressing the a/c even though the clutch is not engaging. On my wife's Jazz the fans come on even the car is not running when i press the a/c switch. I am wondering if this is why my pressure sensor went as the clutch must have got stuck as it was working fine.

Nope you should just hear the clutch engage.

If you do tha above test and the clutch engages then get a new relay.

The relay type is the same for the AC Rad Fan and the Clutch, try swapping them to see if the Aircon clutch engages...BUT beware a previous owner may have swapped them over to get the aircon working so they may now both be broken. The relays are available on amazon (UK) Part Air Compressor Relay 39794-SDA-A05 (the A05 signifies the manufacturer. A05 seem to be more reliable than Denso A02s)
At £6.50 they are far cheaper than Honda parts at £30!

I wouldn’t be so quick to change the relay, ensure it has gas and that it doesn’t have a faulty pressure switch.

Unit was gassed and no leaks or issues found. Theyt ran out of time and wanted me to bring it back for further testing. Gas wasn't too low anyway. Did my own check and found the dodgy relay :D It's ice cold now all for £7. Agree always worth checking gas first as relay won't sort that even if it was broken.

Same issue.

No gas but mobile AC technician pressurised system and we saw a current across the system (pressure switch therefore good) but still no clutch engagement.

Is it possible to check relays with a multimeter? If so, how, please?

I have read of the relay swap test before and my clutch still not engaging.

AC radiator fan not coming on either.

If it is AC compressor, new replacements, Denso or otherwise, seem like hen's teeth.

Do you have to stick with a Denso 10SR15C 447280-0390 or is another Denso 10SR15C OK?

What are thoughts on getting your own compressor clutch serviced at this business in Chertsey? The cost for this would be £250 exc vat (2022 quote). This price includes collection of old unit, delivery to UK mainland and 24 months warranty. Turnaround is approx.. 7/10 working days.
