As far as I have heard, everyone who has tried this on a diesel has encountered problems with cabin heating following installation. The Diesel heating system is different from petrol powered models because diesels are slow to warm up from a cold start. The heating system is boosted by a bypass circuit on the airconditioning evaporator, which flows hot compressed gas through the cabin airconditioning heat exchanger to warm cabin air while the engine cooling water is still cold. There are also additional electrical heating boosters in some of the air ducts (which the other cars may have as well?? idk actually).

Diesel powered Hondas are a minor percentage of world wide sales, to the extent that most people outside Europe and India don't even realise they exist. So aftermarket parts such as these aren't designed for this additional complexity. Dig through older posts on this forum to find out more. I am sure some simple (from an API programming perspective) custom circuitry to function as an interface to the additional parts and possibly sensors is all that is needed, but I have never seen anyone seriously discuss reverse engineering any of the a n a l o g u e or digital logic in this car beyond the ECU and engine. The skills to pull this off aren't uncommon. I have this idea of controlling headlight levelling with an Adruino, but like 400 other ideas I have, it is only a paper project so far.

ps.. I am speculating of course. I am not certain beyond any doubt that this is the exact reason for the trouble people have had with Android units in diesel Accords. It is however the major difference in functionality of the stock head unit, and that is the basis of my deduction. If I am wrong, I don't think I am 100% wrong.

Okay, thats a pain, did wonder as its all on that sat nav screen and surrounds, well ill keep hunting as would want it done for music and an updated sat nav as I do a lot of big trips for work etc so would be better to have the maps big and updated, thank you for the response, ill find something

these are a thing now, but no one in the integrated head unit megathread on clubhondaspirit have tried it yet, they're the ones who figured out which head units can be used on the diesel with a modified harness

these are proven to work

with the following mod

but please use solder or heat shrinkable solder sleeves, twisting the strands together and taping up with vinyl tape is not going to last

all credit goes to clubhondaspirit @ https://clubhondaspirit.com/foro/to...ios-chinas-en-i-ctdi-7th/page-24#entry2371200

Brilliant thank you very much, ill translate it in a bit, and ill solder it up when I get it, and see what happens.

Keep us posted. I (obviously) hadn't heard of this, and I am totally getting one if yours works. The outdated Nav screen is my least favourite bit of the car. And the AU disk doesn't work on EU systems (my car is from the UK), so the map shows me driving around on the sea floor somewhere between Scotland and Norway.

PS: A quick scan of the pages on clubhondaspirit, there is a discussion of whether the AC condenser bypass valve issue is correctly solved, on the pages following mike's link. My browser translator is producing more poetry than tech-talk, so I can't see where it is leading. I've run out of reading time for today, so if you get there first, can you relay if they've worked through it?

apparently, the operating conditions for the valve are quite specific, below 5c ambient and water temp below 75c, and it only does this when left to its own devices, not when the climate control panel is set to ac on/ac off

the gist of it is that the wire splicing disables the bypass valve's functionality. it's more of a workaround than a solution. If you install the chinky pad without the fix, your compressor will burn because it ignores the pressure reading that triggers compressor's failsafe during bypass/"heat pump" mode
with the wire splice, the pressure reading is still ignored, but it forces the bypass valve into closed position so the ac can only provide cooling, drastically reducing the risk of an overheating or overpressure event that would cook it or cause refrigerant phase change outside of the expansion valve

obviously, this could still happen, but I'm not seeing many, if any reported cases where specifically this has happened. most complaints are due to head unit quality control being shoddy, firmware gremlins etc
