HI chaps,
joined up at January, & have appreciated reading & gleaning some excellent info for my faithful old Honda!! So am not trying to USE the site for a quick sales avenue! And I cannot put it up for sale as I havn't posted on this site!! SORRY! BUT.I have been busy renovating two escorts this year, so have been posting away on three Ford forums!! The time has come to depart with the Honda, much to my wife's upset! (It's just that I have an escort TD estate, & two escort vans, & lots of escort D & TD spares, so it makes sense departing with the Honda, as I do my own servicing & I can keep just ford spares if the Honda goes to a new home!!) So I wanted a bit of advice really! The Honda is a great car & we have had it for 5 years, the engine has done 104k miles & auto box is extremely smooth. We have consistently done about 1K miles a year for the past 5 years!!, (mainly the wife going shopping in it!!) Have the service history going back to new! But it starts to mist up now in winter a bit, A/C no longer works, Cruise control still working! Ultra reliable starter, engine turns twice & fires up! Last serviced 3years - 3K ago!! It's MOT'd until Jul 21st 2013 and went straight through with only minor advisories! (slight play in upper suspension ball joint - advise replace - & ball joint dust covers damaged but preventing ingress of dirt!)
So the question! Is there much interest in spares on this Honda Site, I could take the engine out, dismantle etc or is it worth selling as a whole, do people still buy these as projects or spares?? I thought I would ask as you are the Honda Guys!!
Is it worth selling as a whole for or breaking? It is declared SORN ATM, only needs tax to drive away! Is anyone of need of a car like this, it is metallic burgandy and all of the panels are pretty straight, Is someone in need of it? Only want to get just above scrap money for it, but I just think that there could be someone in desperate need for a car like this, working on a project, needing some doors or engine box etc?? Pls let me know what you think chaps? And you can pm if you want or advise on this topic! The only prob is the insurance runs out middle of next month & It will not be renewed on Honda, so won't be able to get tax anymore after that & sorry for long post...I talk alot!!

If it is a runner, flog it for a couple of hundred and let someone have some use out of it.

There isn't much demand for spares. The 5th gen hardly breaks down, unless it is the gearbox and with the value of the car these days, it isn't worth fixing. Sad state of affairs really.
