Hi, and a Merry Xmas to all members!

I was wondering if anybody had heard/noticed this? On start up when the revs are high I am getting a whirring echoy noise coming from the serpantine/pully belt area. When I have done a run it does not seem to be there, even if I rev it up. It is a mk8 2.4 petrol with 85000m. The belt is new (replaced due to cracks) and everything looks to be running straight. I checked the pulleys with the belt off and they all sounded fine, a small amount of sideways movement on the tensioner pulley but nothing massive? Any help/advice would be much appreciated.

Alternator pulley checked and verified good?

I think they are a freewheeling pulley so can go bad and you should check the bearings in the alternator at the same time.

Thanks, will check, it is not a graunchy metallic bearing noise, it is very weird.

Whirring is often what it sounds like, I heard 2.0 litre Mk7 with a whirring and it was the alternator not sure if it was the one way pulley or the actual bearings in the Alternator itself.
They are simple to repair in the alternator, the pulley is just replacement.
