Front shocks

Are front shocks handed? Monroe shocks just say front axle but Bilstein say front left and front right with the left hand being quite a bit dearer.

no, they shouldn't be. what bilsteins are you looking at? my b6 units can go on either side, the spring collar rotates, and if memory serves stock can too even if the collar doesn't rotate
