For some time I have been aware of a whine coming from my gearbox when cruising, mainly 40mph upwards, mainly in the higher gears when for example on motorways. My feeling is that it will be diff bearings. Has anyone the same experience, and if so can perhaps advise me on action to take. Gearbox oil has been changed. Thanks chaps, Rod.

Was there any evidence of metal filings when you did the gearbox oil? These aren’t known for gearbox issues. If you’re sure it’s the gearbox then you might want to try some additive to see if it quietens down, but failing that I would say a used box is probably cheap enough so just source and swap over, and do your clutch at the same time.
