I've been trying to identify an issue I've had for a long time. The car drives fine, but I find it a bit noisy on low to high throttle, the car sounds like typical diesel clattering at these throttle levels, during very slight and no throttle it's very quiet. However at full throttle its also kinda quieter, as if the boost levels is doing something to the clattering noise. I believe a exhaust leak could be the problem but I've had a hard time finding the leak, there's also this faint balloon sound, like when you let a blown up balloon go. I've been unable to replicate this at stand still/idle.
The car is tuned and I've blocked the EGR pipe from the exhaust manifold side. I've also noticed it's looking sooty or dirty below the the exhaust manifold gasket.
Is this just dirt or soot?
Could blocking the other end of the EGR make any difference? Maybe a new manifold gasket? Does anyone have any experience with this issue?
