As some may know, the missus decided she wanted essence of Lexus along our nearside, but I wasn't too happy, so sent Honda-kun off for an insurance repair.

At the same time I have Essence of Holdcroft removed from the front end by ordering from our friends at HH a colour matched bumper - cheers guys!!!!!

Anyhow. Delivery driver dropped the Accord back Friday and commented on what a lovely drive it was, and how he had never been in a Diesel Accord that went and handled so well - thanks Faddy and HH again ;).

We went for a little drive and b*gger! The parking sensors don't work any more. One very long beep then nothing. Before we would get a good signal, that didn't go constant until there was 2" to a wall. Best sensors I have ever used. :(

Seriously hoping that it is a result of over eager jet washing - as the car was washed and polished very nicely.

Not sure if they are Honda originals as they were on the car when we got it. There is a little round sounder with red LED on the boot liner on the nearside. I need to look at the missus pictures of the damage to see if they would have removed the rear bumper as part of the repair, as now they are totally dead.

Any ideas peeps?

Cheers.

Get the car back to them Dan and say they were working fine until it went in ;)

Spoke to them already - agree it might be the jet wash idea, and asked me to leave it a few days to see if they dry out otherwise they'll have it back for a look-see.

Dan its quite likely mine even plays up sometimes in very wet conditions.

They are still playing up - sop I am having to take the day out to drive all the way to the garage (40 minutes each way

) to get them to plug the car into a computer.

The guy couldn't tell me what system it is, but they are Honda approved - would HDS pick up parking sensors?

I am wearing my TA shirt and watching them like a hawk that's for sure.

The missus swears blind they worked when she parked before the prang. Will threaten a charge back on the credit card for our excess if I am not happy; and I sure as s**t ain't getting a loaner any less than an equivalent car 'cos we are going to a friends for the weekend and anyone driving a 107 or equivalent on the Motorway is bonkers IMHO.

The connections are easy to get to on the tourer, just pull out the plastic finisher and then you can see the wiring.

Don't try to remove the metal parts of the finisher, as I did. Don't try to undo the bolts that can be seen in the middle. Just take out the hidden boot thing, then you can pull up on the finisher and it comes out. There are 4 connectors, and you can see where the 4 wires disappear out thorugh a grommet.

Well apparently - 2 are disconnected and the two peripheral ones were not working; although side detection was something it the kit was very good at. Doesn't explain either, why they worked before the car had its incident :(.

Anyway - they are supposed to be sending me a specialist who comes to the car; but I haven't heard from him yet.

Maybe they took the rear bumper off and didn't put the connectors back properly ??

They insist they didn't.

In fact at first he tried to say that the car had had the bumper off in the past and it had been repaired - because it looked funny - actually it was just a bit dirty.

Hmm well the rear bumper does come off very easily, the only difficulty in removing it completely away from the car and then putting it back is .... the wiring through the grommet to those sensors LOL

No reason for them to remove it, unless the insurance wanted them to check the integriy of the "chassis" down the side all the way to the rear bodywork

I doubt they were too worried about the chassis as the damage was very cosmetic.

We shall wait and see if tf this guy wants paying for his visit
