The AA now doing air bag recall work!

Honda have been chasing me for years regarding the air bag recall and never got around to arranging it with a dealer but just had another letter today saying that an AA technician can now come out to me and do it at my home!

Will give them a ring tomorrow and try to arrange it.

THe AA has been known to contract out work to other businesses so you may not actually get a man in a yellow van on the day.

(I believe it is arses as opposed to ***es.)

Hi, I am a bit late to this one but I am also being hounded from Honda ( this will be the 2nd one they have fitted ! and it also failed)
How did you get the AA to do it ? I am with the RAC - Did Honda suggest it or are you in the AA ? did you just phone the AA and ask ? I would appreciate some help here, I asked a garage but they said it HAS to be fitted by Honda ! Really appreciate some help.

I had a letter through the post from Honda to have the airbag done on my 8th gen, gives a number to ring. I'd ring Honda if you haven't got details as I did before and got it booked in then COVID hit so it was cancelled. Really need to get it done

Hi, thanks for the info - I am on I think my 5th letter from Honda !!!! My local APPROVED Honda dealership replaced the faulty part around 5/6 years ago - the last 5 letter`s from Honda are saying that the part that was fitted was also faulty !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will NOT take my car to my Honda dealer as they buggered my auto gearbox up 4 years ago AND charged me £500 odd quid for the privilege !!!! I had to get a fully recon box (Tameside Transmission Manchester They were great and I highly recommend them) at a cost of £2004 inc transporting the car to them. I will NOT deal with my local APPROVED Honda dealer ever again, I want to get the part replaced but NOT by Honda and that is why - I will give Honda UK a ring tomorrow and ask the question, fingers crossed OR it does not get done, simple !

Hi all just contacted Honda UK re: TAKATA airbag recall - good news, they said YES, and I am now waiting for the AA to contact me to carry out the recall on my drive we will see, I will keep you posted.

Hi all, update - yes the AA came out today and fitted the new Takata airbag module, when he took the old one off - he confirmed it WAS the new one that Honda replaced around 5/6 years ago !!!!!!! But he replaced it anyway as he said Honda would keep hounding me if not ! Took about 15 mins total.
So thanks again for the heads up - and like me if you keep getting letters - just arrange it with the AA.

Thanks for the info - I guess most people don`t realise the vast implications this has had, including me and at least now I have had it done ! All I have to sort out now is my "Electric Lift Tailgate" (see my previous post) and then my car is as near perfect as it can be.

Hi, I am not surprised in the least ! Its a sign of what most of society has become - and should be a real worry to us all - too many greedy people without morals with an eye on making a quick buck at someone else`s cost and the sooner people realise it the better ! But I am not holding my breath.
