I'm hoping it is not a failure of the wiring loom but before I start looking around the hinge point, is there a particula fuse in the system that deals with the motor and boot catch mechanism ?
I've looked through the glove compartment booklet but cannot find anything.

If there isn't one which colour wire is the one most likely to have broken ?

Thanks in advance.

Symptoms, boot does not unlock with the outer handle or the keyfob (only the manual catch inside, which is a real pain to get to when loaded up).
On closing the boot catch does not do the 'pull in' and I have to push the door in manually before I can lock/deadlock with the remote.
Basically there is no power to the door mechanism/actuator at all.

When it happened to mine. After I tried everything else advised on here as a last resort I tried the thing I thought most unlikely. Disconnected the battery, waited 10 minutes connected it again and hey presto it worked.

Thanks

I had a similar fix a couple of years back (when I clipped one size of the boot door on a car park bollard). The nearside rear window also fixed itself after disconnecting the battery for ten minutes, but not this time.

+1 for antdad’s suggestion. Mine did this, including the ‘not pulling in’. Turned out to be a sticking boot release handle (the main outside manual lever). I think the boot mechanism goes into fail safe mode or something when the boot release handle goes awry, or perhaps if the boot release handle doesn’t return to its default position (because the mechanism is faulty/dirty), an electrical connection is lost? Anyway, a simple clean and lube of the mechanism fixed it a treat for me. The battery disconnect was only a temporary fix for me until the boot release got stuck again.

I had the same problem for a year and tried cleaning, lubricants etc, but eventually gave up and rigged a rope to the boot catch and through the luggage ring on the nearside, so I opened it 'manually' every time. This was OK, and after several months I gave it a try with the key button and it worked (also with the outer handle) - and it has been fine for the last 4 months (but the rope is still at hand just in case!). Good luck
