Tourer tailgate gas struts

My boot lid just wouldnt stay up this morning, it was very cold, about -2 according to the trip computer. Later on today when it warmed up a bit (now 2 degrees!!) it stayed up fine.
I guess the cold is effecting my gas struts. Is this something everyone experiences or are my gas struts on the way out? There was a very good guide on the old THAOC site about how to replace the struts, is that guide lost for good?

Mine is staying up but not raising all the way. I have to give it a helping hand to lift it the last 2 or 3 inches.

Mine were fine this morning when it was ~0 degrees...

I suspect your struts are not at their best but its also the cold affecting them as well.

The guide is lost for good Im afraid but its not a very hard job to do, just need to take your time is all.

Thanks CJ. Maybe I will invest in a broom handle to hold it open on the cold mornings
