Well, now i've replaced the dizzy cap and rotor arm, and it's running perfect, starts on the flick of the key, every time, and seems to be running better, so I think i've sorted it. Thanks for all the advice.

Not an immobiliser thankfully. I have, thanks to an entire can of damp start, got it going. Looks like the cap and rotor arm are shot though so first thing tuesday i'll be buying new. Will patent be ok or should I buy genuine?

Well, an update. Ran absolutely fine, through the snow and ice. Parked it up last Tuesday and it hasn't been used since as I went into hospital for an operation. Went to start it yesterday and.......nothing. And again, nothing this morning. It's cranking over lovely and I can smell fuel, but...

well, so far touch wood, it's been fine. Started 1st time after heavy rain overnight on thursday and friday at home, and this morning in Cumbria, very cold but fired up straight away. Fingers crossed i've fixed it, but only time will tell!

I did mine recently. The metal bar has to come off, and there are bits of wiring that have to be moved and held out of the way, or the filter won't slide out. Took me about 20 minutes in total, although I now have a squeak from behind the dash somewhere, so I may have forgotten to put something...

wow, looks like i'm gonna be busy this weekend! Problem with borrowing a coil pack is that it's intermittent. Ie: it could go for weeks and be fine, but one morning it just won't go, and i have to get a lift to work. The really annoying thing is that it'll start fine by the time i get home, so...

oh, forgot to mention it had a new battery in january. Turning over isn't a problem. It just won't fire. I've noticed as well it seems to only do it after it's rained overnight, so maybe there's moisture getting into the system somewhere?
