    6th generation, but Mk7 ?

A source of confusion. I have a "6th generation" Accord - and yet it is called a Mk7 accord (in parts lists) and has a code number of CH7 in the VIN number. Was there perhaps a zero'th generation, Mk1 ? How does it work ?

    Poor fuel consumption

I have suspected poor consumption for some time. This past few days, I did a trip to Scotland. I did 570 miles and used 77 litres of fuel - ie around 34 mpg. The car runs fine - starts, idles, runs ok. The tires were pumped up, the air filter is clean, the plugs are reasonably new...

    The Accord Coupe ?

Hello Does anyone have much information or opinion of the Coupe version around 2000 model year? They are nicely styled in my opinion. Leather interiors. I know they were built in the USA and imported. Are they as reliable as the Swindon built cousins? Most are automatics; is the auto box...

    The Honda Creed

I believe in Honda, the car almighty, maker of transport on earth, and in his son the Accord, who was invented of the virgin Honda, suffered under Chevy **** box, was scrapped and descended into Ford. On the third day rose again from the scarp yard. Ascended into the VTEC, and sits upon the...

I have a couple of lamps out on the AC control unit and Radio. Can you get new ones and is it easy to replace them. Its a pain at night not being able to see the LCD display. Also is anyone breaking a car? I could do with a rear parcel shelf since the retractable cords are broken and are tied...

ooooo dem dam spark plugs !

Adjusted the valve clearances today. They were all fine except one cylinder needed a slight adjustment on both inlet and exhaust. Anticipating this job, I bought a new Draper 10mm spark plug socket (I had a 16mm in my toolbox). They came out easily using a short extension plus ratchet. The...

    fuel consumption slightly worse

good morning i have just returned from Scotland with the new Accord and did a fuel consumption check. Its worse than my old one - which used to do 40 mpg on a run using cruise. This one only managed 36 mpg. Its slightly noisier than the old one - so will check valve clearances soon. Could...

Is the 7th as reliable as the 6th?

On the 8th gen forum, someone asked the question "Is the 8th as reliable as the 6th" The general consensus was no. So logically we now need to ask: "Is the 7th as reliable as the 6th" ? What do you think ?

    Hatchback ? and facelift ?

Hi Quite new to these cars. 1) My Accord is a hatchback - however I have noticed comments that imply there is also a non-hatchback 6 Gen ? Is this correct? 2) I have also seen comments about "facelift" for later cars. Is this correct too - and what were the changes? When were they...

DMF and/or DPF problems on the Honda Diesel

Hello I now own a 6th gen petrol, but in recent years have owned three diesel cars: Peugeot 406, Rover 75, Skoda Octavia. I loved the fuel economy of a diesel - I used to get 60 mpg out of the Skoda, but have been put off them due to the problems with duel mass flywheels (DMF) and diesel...

    Fuel Consumption

Hello I was just wondering about fuel consumption on the VTEC engine. I have a 2 litre, and on a long run using cruise control, I get 40 mpg (well 39.4 actually, brim to brim, but say 40). I think I get around 34 round town, but never checked it that accurately. I was wondering about the 1.8...

    VTEC whooshe

Hello I have a 2000 model Honda Accord - which I am highly pleased with. However, whilst smooth, quiet, refined and reliable - I find it difficult to believe there is 148 bhp under the bonnet. Also cannot detect when the VTEC is supposed to kick in. Today I took it up to 6000 rpm in 2nd...
