Hi guys posting from Northern Ireland (more lenient know road emissions) here, I will be buying an 05 I-ctdi sport in a week or so, just wanting to know, where are the cats located ? Is there one in the down pipe? Have big plans for this car ! Will keep you guys updated ! Want the cats out before I remap !

I'm interested in this too, thinking of decating and getting a shiny new exhaust on it.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the turbo somewhat relies on back pressure created by the cat so by removing it you may increase wear on your turbo. Also the lack of back pressure could disrupt a remap meaning that you mightn't get the performance you would with a cat in place.

As for emissions, diesels in NI get a smoke test rather than an emissions, so as long as it's not smoking heavily it should be grand.

There was a thread here somewhere and someone got a nice custom twin exhaust installed on his 2.2 and said it sounded very nice (apparently), but if a decat is what you want this is the expected noise minus the dump sound.

Don't decat, it will get loud, smokey, smelly and eventually kill your turbo.
