Hi all,

Switched my cold air con for the first time since last year and it's not blowing any cold air. I have tried manually turning the setting to low and even tried pressing the auto button but no joy. Silly me, I should have switched on the air con a bit over the winter as people advise.

Just wanted some advice from the experts shall I take it to a independent air con place for re-gas?

Just noticed another thing but wanted some one to check this in their car. I only turn the auto climate button on in the summer so the car sets the right temperature. But I have notiiced when I am pressing the auto button today it's not changing any temperature. Just stays on the same temperature that I previously put this on.is this normal.

So I am thinking is it a re-gas issue or auto climate one?

I would appreciate someone to test their auto switch?

auto button will keep temperature set by you so temp on display will not change you need to adjust it yourself so ie. if you set it to 19 it doesn't matter what temp is outside -5 or 25, when you press auto air con will keep 19 this is how auto button works.
if it comes that it's not blowing cold is maybe there is some leak so you've lost all liquid, so you better take your car to air con specialist so they will find where is leak and if possible they will fix it and re-gas it.

I agree with Greg mate. Take it to an aircon specialist. Otherwise you could get it regassed for say £40, and if it's not that it's low on gas then i should imagine you're going to be slightly annoyed.

Get it re gassed and take it from there. You are also supposed to use the AC at least once a month for 10 minutes or so to keep the system fresh, lubricated and free from leaks. It is not good for the system for it to be inactive for so long.

Also KwikFit will regass it and if it doesn't hold the gas or work they wont charge you. So if it is more serious at least you won't end up paying more than you have to.

Thanks for the reply. Going to take it to the specialist this week and hope it's re-gas only? I will keep u informed. Working fine last year!!

Bad news, dad took it to aircon specialist today and he said no point re-gassing as he can't here the click when the AC is switched. He things it's the compressor! Not sure what to do now! Any advice? I live in Coventry and I don't mine travelling to get a second hand compressor or a good electrician to diagnose the problem.

Seems like a quick conclusion from your garage. You need to have the system pressure tested and then look to the electrical stuff ( compressor clutch relay or pressure switch located on the condenser )

Re the compressor, check the end of the pulley for free movement. If you can't rotate the outer end of the pulley with a long screwdriver, then maybe it is the compressor :(

ive just bought a used compressor from hills breakers on ebay. apparently from an 06 accord and it cost £125 inc p&p and 3 months warrenty.

if it sorts my issue then im happy and my ac nightmare is over. a new compressor is about £700 from honda.....

Hi, just joined forum, so my reply is possibly very late... anyway I experienced the same issues with the ac, turned out to be the clutch relay not working, plug&play replacement and everything was ok. Easy to check function on this, relay is placed in engine bay, remove cover of the relay box, turn ac of, start engine, turn ac on and You should hear the click from relay... if not try replacing..

Thanks to fredothefrog who kindly looked into my car aircon issue this afternoon, thankfully it's not the compressor but the pressure sensor. Are these quiet easy to replace without opening the grill?

Another issue..after sorting the a AC the glowplug is continuously flashing whilst the car is driving, this has never happened before. Could this be anything to do with testing and unplugging the relays???

Any help would be grateful.

I don't think so that it may be something with previous things, most common cause of flashing glow plugs is fuel filter.
