Airbag Light

Hi, my first post on the forum although i have lurked around for a while. Im going to buy a 7th Gen Saloon and found a nice 1 owner 54 plate with 81k on it. The airbag light is on and the owner has no idea what it is. He is/im maybe going to negotiate the price down by £300. Is this lightly to be a simple fix or one that costs a bomb....thank in advance for any help, great forum btw..

ok so ***uming i was to buy it with the worse case scenario, what sort of cost is the worst case, ballpark figure? Thanks for the help...

Worse case would be all of the airbags have deployed, sensors all damaged and airbag ecu has crash codes that need to be cleared by a specialist. This is a highly unlikely scenario.

What you are asking is the same as asking how long a piece of string is.

Ok i get the idea, thanks. Airbags have never deployed the car is straight as a pin. Just wondered if there was a common fault that happens and what the cost might be.

Does the horn work?
If not it could be the slip ring, mine went.

But as said, only way to know is read the error code.

My airbag light came on last year for no reason. Took it to Honda couple of times but long story short it turned out to be the SRS ecu. Honda wanted £850 just for the part! Did some research and got a used ecu and got it reset all for £50 thanks to ebay. Quite easy to DIY.
